Thought Vorm did well today, only Gower almost cost us a goal, hell of a save from Vorm!!.............. please log in to view this image
Yes, Mark Gower had a bit of a stinker at times today. Conceding a corner with a back-pass from the half-way was pure genius
Vorm made a couple of good saves - that's his job. He has been brilliant this season, fair play. I wouldn't go as far as Norway Jack but positionally he was very poor at times today.
To be honest, haven't seen many Monk haters anywhere!! Maybe people expressing their opinions on his obvious shortcomings at this level at times. But mostly people respect, as they should, the guy's obvious commitment to the Swans cause!! Thought our team were immense today. Today was, in my mind, going to tell a story of our season ahead. Well it's looking a fair bit more promising now!! Ok it was Stoke, no disrespect intended, but there are far tougher mountains to climb to survive!! But we've proved, even while being weakened by injuries, if someone's 'up for a scrap', we're more than up for it too!! Heroes all over the pitch today. Lawrenson had us down for a 2-1 defeat. You doubters in the media, take heed, where going to give it one hell of a shot!! So chuffed for Danny Graham. Took his opportunity with such class. So many on here have doubted him, well he's answered you........... Finally, immensely chuffed for Brendan!! Been diffucult for him at times of late. But showed today, whatever obstacles are placed in front of him, he knows how to overcome then. Cheers Brendan...... Nice touch with the applause he gave & received from the faithfull at the end too.....
A lot of people questioned the wisdom of offering Monk more time at the club .... which makes me wonder a bit of their own wisdom . Monk had a less than great game against CHELSEA , but who did . We were lucky to have him able play at all these last few games little on play well . To doubt rewarding Monk with a new contract is a travesty , to say the least , considering the options . Another thing , Williams seems to play better when partnered with Monk , as an added bonus . P.S. Who would have thought a year ago that Britton would be fans MOTM for our first Premier League win , besides being in the Premier at all lol !! . I can still hear the echos of " Britton & Monk " not being good enough for the Championship after our league 1 silverware !!
Breezy as said by most of us, we'll be happy to be proven wrong, but to say that we hate the guy after all we have been through together is disingenuous to the people questioning the logic of him being offered an extension. We are entitled to question things on here or other places about our club, it's what forums are about and we should question, otherwise situations like what happened to us 9 years ago or what happening with Plymouth now could arise again. Dont forget Swansea City is owned by the fans
Wheres breezy? Jager, thought we had solved the 'hate' thing. We agreed, nobody hates Monk, just that he has a lot of 'doubters'.
Rhysj1 clearly had tongue in cheek with his title , did you really think he meant " Hate " . I'm totally with rhysj1 on this one folks , & we are entitled to our opinions also Monk MORE than belongs , like Britton , their all heart & you can't pull that out of your back pocket. Teams are in awe of us for a reason , the little team that could . Have a good one peoples !
Good to hear from you Breezy mate, where have you been hiding?? Hockey forum perhaps!.............. please log in to view this image I'm off down the pub, to chew the Jack cud!............. please log in to view this image
As i said they were ALL heros today but i do stand by what i said RE Vorm, Arsenal,Chelsea and again today he looked a bit unsure of himself at times, i dont know why because i think he is immensly talented, and some of his saves today were top draw. He needs to work on his judgement though, he made some bizzare moves today like coming out for the ball when he had absolutly no need to ,maybe he was just bored !! Not that im an expert on goal keepers but he seems to be a very naturally gifted shot stopper the rest can be coached into him IMO. Gower struggled a bit today, but i think he gave 100% and thats all we can ask of him .I had us down to get 1pt today so the result is even better than i expected, though if you listen to the Stoke fans we were always down to win it as they reckon they are terrible away from home !
good to see him play well and also DG finally score, hope they both keep up the good work (and yes I have bagged both of them but remember one decent game doesnt make a summer). sincerely hope that DG, now that he has scored, will become more effective, and obviously Monkey's fitness is improving
"(and yes I have bagged both of them but remember one decent game doesnt make a summer)" Trouble is Musty, it's not his 'first' decent game!!! I truly think the guy (Danny-boy), had been really unlucky as far. Let's hope this lift sets him on is way. Just remember his goal against Real Betis, you don't score goals like that, if there's not much about you!!
agree WSAF but Real Betis means SFA, he has to do it where it counts, not i friendlies and i am sure the first will be followed by many more
Totally appreciate what your saying Musty. What I meant was the technique he displayed in creating that goal, was something you just don't lose!! He just needed a 'break', he finally got it yesterday!! To be honest, he's had his snipers on ere.....
Agreed. The guy is class and hopefully his confidence is now boosted with that well taken goal. NJ on Vorm: "...he looked a bit unsure of himself at times, i dont know why because i think he is immensly talented, and some of his saves today were top draw. He needs to work on his judgement though, he made some bizzare moves today like coming out for the ball when he had absolutly no need to..." Spot on. Remind you of another Dutch keeper?
I really dont get this thread. I have never heard anyone give our Captain pelters. He has always been the perfect pro and captain. I thought this year would be a step to far and his first team chances limited. But as per usual the man has stepped to the mark like every swans fans would expect of him. He is andwill always be a credit to Swansea City and pro footballers in general. Step forward mr Monk and take a bow.
To be fair TLF quite a few of us questioned whether Monk is good enough at this level, me included. Was dreadful v Chelsea but wasn't alone and they are a top team. He was absolutely immense yesterday though and gets my vote for MOM. Only time will tell if he can play with that consistency week in week out.
HTR to be fair suggesting he maybe not good enough for the prem is a little bit different to hating. I agree and am probably one that thought his lack of pace maybe his downfall and tought he may struggle. But I have never ever doubted his commitment to our club and am surprised if anyone has. If they have hang your haeds in shame.
