Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend!

Would like to know everyones thoughts on areas that need strengthening in the summer and possible players that would be on the wishlist?

    Defence
Personally, I would like to see Gary Cahill arrive as I believe we are in need of another technically gifted defender similar to Agger. Coates has the potential and been pretty decent in his few appearances but I don't want him to be rushed into the team.

Agger is always injured, whilst Carra and Skrtel are both similar players in that they don't have ability to play the ball out of defence which often results in hoofing.

    Central Midfield
Whilst I believe both Lucas and Adam are good squad players, I don't think they are good enough to dominate and command the midfield area. Both seem to be pretty slow, and this is an area of the pitch that needs real dynamism. I would like to see Banega and M'Vila both arrive.

    Right Wing
I feel Henderson is quite uncomfortable in this position and doesn't really possess the skill and pace to trouble full backs. Similar to Kuyt except Kuyt has the intelligence and good movement to cause trouble. However, Hendo is one for the future but Kuyt is on the wrong side of 30. What we need is someone who can slot straight into that position (just like Downing) who has experience and talent.

    Striker
We have a strong traditional centre forward Carroll, we have the trickery of Suarez and the intelligence of Kuyt. Bellamy is a good back up striker and winger but again, he is another player on the wrong side of 30.

It's nice to see Kenny invest in youth like Carroll, Hendo and Coates but I think we need more signings like Enrique and Downing - players that can slot straight into the first team. We currently have Carragher, Gerrard, Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy who don't have time on their side.

IMO stop putting Lucas in the same bracket as Adam. he is not a squad player he is a first team member and has been for a while. He may be slow pace wise but is tactically aware to hold the correct position.Adam is the player you should be looking at in terms of slowing our game down. He losses possession too much for my liking and when we play a 4-4-2 we struggle because of trying too many hollywood passes.

Concerning our defense we could do with one more but I somehow feel Cahill is overrated. He has been part of a leaking Bolton defense and its not just this season. At least with Scot Dann it was telling that ever since he got injured, the Birmingham defence went Awol.

Only a center back is needed imo.

We dont need anything major....let the team gel and let Kenny get on with it. We're not going to win the league this year but aim to finish in top 3 with a good run in the FA Cup. Next year will be alot closer with some more major summer signings!!

Agree on CB. we are waiting for the right opportunity to come along. coates was bought in for this reason (when kyrgiakos left) so until someone goes I'm not sure when we'll get a new CB. skertl or agger will have to go cos carragher is untouchable it seems.

CM.. .well i'm not so sure. we haven't seen what gerrard will do yet. camolli talked about seeing where we are and i don't know that we will have really seen where we are here until the end fo the season.

RW disappointed in kuyt v everton as he wandered about. maxi is not playing and henderson has missed some sitters. overall i think we need to think about this one. Downing has played there but not impressed much.

St - we won't be buying here until the right player is available. bellamy and Kuyt are decent cover.

    I agree.
I don't think there will be much action in January, then again I cannot see much action next summer either, I reckon the most we will see next summer is four players. They will be high calibre players but there won't be alot of them. There won't be a need to go out and sign 7 players next summer.

Dont think we need any more players, just perhaps improvin on the ones we have already got

eg. perhaps albiol/verthongen in for skrtel or hazard in for maxi , or m'vila for spearing

Cahill is no better than Carra or Skretl and worse than Agger IMO.We need to be looking higher quality than that

There is only one signing we really need in any location - one we have missed for a couple of years. We just have to hope Real win La Liga this year and we might get our man

    Here is the missing piece

If you have any doubts, think about who else can do this job for us (or anyone else for that matter). At centreback we have options, including Kelly and Wilson that we haven't yet seen. Down the wing, we've not yet seen Sterling (and we still have Maxi), and we have a variety of tested forward options (Bellamy, Kuyt, Suarez and Carroll)

No-one else think we could do with a good solid reliable RB? Johnson and Kelly seem too injury prone to me. Move Kelly back to CB and he probably wont get half as many injuries and he is an immense CB. Buy a new RB and let Johnson and the newbie fight it out for a place.

Why is it that people keep insisting that Jay Spearing is on his way out? If anyone is facing the threat of departing its Jonjo Shelvey, as he's gone out on loan, Kenny will put him down like Aquilani and say he can't fit him into the team. Jay Spearing is going to be a valuable player in the squad for years to come.

I reckon Kenny will sign a defensive midfielder like Yann M'Vila to help Conor Coady progress. Liverpool need to develop Andre Wisdom, he has the tools to make a fine centre back, he just needs the experience. Liverpool will have saved themselves a fortune when they unleash Raheem Sterling on the premiership.

If Oxlaide Chamberlain can command a £15 million fee at 17, and Raheem is a better player, then its mind boggling on how much Liverpool have saved themselves.

I don't understand how Yann M'vila can come straight into the team and put Lucas as a squad player on the bench??? I would always welcome Banega into the team although it will never happen. Liverpool don't buy big names from the top 4 of other leagues.

In all honesty, I don't think we need anyone unless we come into some real injury problems. We have 3 RB and that has been the biggest problem so far, but I can't see it being a problem throughout the season. <ok>

I wouldn't say M'Vila would replace him but I think Lucas definately needs competition for the DM position. As good as Lucas is, I'm not surprised he is getting a lot of game time - who else would step into his position? Spearing isn't good enough IMO.
