The odds were a hundred to one against me The world thought the heights were too high to climb But people from Missouri never incensed me Oh, I wasn't a bit concerned For from hist'ry I had learned How many, many times the worm had turned They all laughed at Christopher Columbus when he said the world was round They all laughed when Edison recorded sound They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother when they said that man could fly They told Marconi wireless was a phony, it's the same old cry They laughed at me wanting you, said I was reaching for the moon But oh, you came through, now they'll have to change their tune They all said we never could be happy, they laughed at us and how! But ho, ho, ho! Who's got the last laugh now?
Both would be great options off the bench behind Wilson this year, instead we have Andy Carroll and Muto out on loan. Don't even bring Joelinton into the equation he's an Attacking Midfielder who can do a job on the wings.
Imagine the headlines if burn had scored in a first team match for us. They would make a great partnership as well
Wow 7 goals in 6 games already this season and 26 last season, he's been on fire since he left us, and was already scoring regularly before we came...so we took a young regular scorer, who was on the verge on taken himself up to the next level, and gave him away. In the 2016/17 season in the champ he should have been given his chance then. I have to blame Rafa mainly for this, as he had his idea how we were gonna get promoted with goals from older professionals like Gayle and Ritchie, and Toney was never on his radar.
I know but the oracles on here told us they were **** and Rafa knew best. So I can only assume these two ****hawks have been getting lucky with deflected goals etc.
I did but he got rid of a lot of young players who are now doing well, better than the ****e in the squad now Merino Mbemba Mitrovic Toney Armstrong
Aye I wasn't keen because of the football. He did a good job in terms of keeping us up though. In his defence I suppose the lack of financial support means you are less likely to risk younger players because you always find yourself on the precipice. A braver manager goes for it with them I suppose is the counter to that. I don't have a problem with his sale of Mitrovic as such. He was so badly suited to Rafa's style, it was best for both to part ways. He needed pace around him and to be in a side that got into the box regular. Rafa prefers to just sit and counter. I'd defend Rafa here as there is zero point keeping players who don't work for you. Mbemba I found weird, because him and Lascelles were outstanding for Rafa in his first half season. He did bring in decent defenders of course so he did something about it, I just thought it a shame he didn't develop a talented young one. Merino I can't offer any excuses for Rafa bar Diame having the purple patch of his career. But it was seriously bad judgement to play him ahead of Merino. When you look at how bad we are in central midfield, its criminally short sight what he did. Toney and Armstrong - again difficult to defend as we've been so shorn of decent striking options, we had two who were actually ideally suited to Rafa, mad keen to play for us, yet discarded untested. I don't blame Rafa for bad transfers in, I don't commend him for good ones in. He is part of a team in that regard and Nickson clearly leads the way. However where players just don't get a chance its down to the manager. Again to defend Rafa, all managers have players they mistakenly discard - I suppose however you'd say thats a lot in a short space to get wrong.
