    Here's a fun fact.

The Tories spent more on contract termination payouts to the Brexit Ferry companies, one of which didn't even own any Ferries.
Than they have on giving support to Manchester for the tier 3 lockdown.

Ireland just went back into lvl5 lockdown and the results of that will be catastrophic, because being a paddy, I know how little the those on the bead line were suffering there already.

Destitution is the word I am looking for

and Ireland had less than 30 people in ICU when they went again to lvl 5

Even before Covid, years of casualisation of the workforce, and power shifting in favour of employers, has left working people especially vulnerable. If you're in a job where you get paid if you fall ill, you're one of the lucky ones.

Ever since 2008, the Irish government has gone from mismanagement to mismanagement.
Thing about corruption in small states is, the effects are far more pronounced as there is less ££ to go around to paper over the cracks

    Finland's approach was imo, fantastic

Brief temporary measures were put in place while they geared up to protect the old and make sure hospitals were equipped.
Then they lifted all but the most benign measures, like no gatherings with 500 or more, and advisory to wear masks on trains and in shops ect.

Sweden and Finland are littered with these old people apartment complexes, Finland prevented it getting into those, and the care homes and made sure there were things like oxygen and so on for those sick.
Sweden didn't bother protecting those. Care homes let people suffocate because they "had no staff trained in applying oxygen", Sweden's health system has 10s of thousands of nurses who could have done that.

That's why there is a huge disparity in deaths between Sweden and Finland.

Finns and Swedes socially distance as a rule anyway.. so it was always going to be less rates than the UK

Good news is thin on the ground these days it seems

I do have some, sort of

Swedish research has found that the anti body tests are not sufficient to detect immunity, for multiple reasons
If you get a mild infection, the antibodies after a time won't be detectable...

If you were infected in march, and were asymptomatic or had a mild infection, a test now will not reveal antibodies as far as I know
Swedish researchers have found samples where no antibodies were found, did have T cell immunity to the virus.

Antibody tests wont find T Cell immunity obviously.

30% of blood samples from donations they tested, samples from Mar2020 had T cell immunity to the virus

This is very good news for the future, tho it helps no one now
