He's doing such a fantastic job according to the pundits that support other clubs, yet he's not once suggested as a replacement elsewhere..
Neutrals absolutely love him. Even when he wasn't managing us I liked him, he has that effect. But the man is ****ing ****tastic.
I defended him last season, I thought "you know what, we have a pretty shocking side, we play poor football to survive." I was energised and excited that we spent money, on decent players who are young, pacey and want to be successful for us. The first game was far from perfect but tbh, we easily knocked the hammers aside that game against Brighton... my confidence in a manager has never evaporated so quickly @Warm Pouch seems to be the exact same. We lined up identically... not even a single tactical change for a completely different side, even the massive fundamental flaws we had in the West Ham game were not fixed... it was the exact same. THIS is why we are so inconsistent and why he wins only 30% of his games, he makes the right decision for one game and plays identical for the two following matches before making another correct tactical change. He's lazy, not stupid, old fashioned, not clueless. I want him sacked as soon as possible before he wastes this talented squad.
The strange thing is he changed to 4 2 3 1 and we looked decent vs Sheff United and Bournemouth, but despite those being our best performances by a country mile and us signing players to fit that set up well he's changed to something weird that doesn't allow him to get all of our best players on the pitch... It really is bewildering.. Im beginning to think some of the players have questioned him and he's going to freeze them out.. Somethings just too ****ed up about it.... I still think the plan will be to sell almiron having signed Fraser on a free.. Its recoup almost all the 35 spent and of course by waiting only 11 more weeks it'll not look at bad on Ashley's part..
It’s interesting because last season Aston Villa should have lost against Sheffield Utd but for a VAR technicality or it wasn’t turned on. They should have been relegated. And now they have 4/4 wins this season. Funny that eh! Wonder who owns them. Sheff Utd I mean. Interesting that.
Can't believe all this hatred, he's taken us to the top of that table and yet fans still moan about him.
It's frustrating as I think we have the players to pick a good side that can play good looking football but he's not getting our best 11 out there.
I think he just wants everything to be ugly just like him I don't mind the bloke, he seems honest enough. He's just ****.
Low possession = low goal attempts Low goal attempts = low goals Low possession = higher opponent possession Higher opponent possession = more pressure on defensive set up More pressure on defensive set -up = more goal scoring opportunites More goal scoring opportunities = mmore goals. Therefore more possession = more goal scoring opportunites & less pressure on defensive set up. 20 years in management, following 20 years as a player, think he might have sussed this by now. Formations and tactics can be fluid throughout the game, so i'm not too concerned about having a set shape, it's the intelligence of the players to adapt during the game to what's occurring. So we either can't coach them, they are as thick as **** or a combination of both. Perhaps Rafa, just realised that it wasn't the footballing ability that was lacking, rather a lack of footballing intelligence, hence just stay solid behind the ball tactics. So does Bruce give the players to much freedom, they just don't know what to do with it?
This is one of the many reasons I can't stand having Shelvey in the team. He thinks taking the ball off of the CB and hitting a 70 yard 'wonder ball' straight to oppo defence is 'attacking football'. It just throws possession away. And the lazy twat doesn't even make up for it by putting a shift to get the ball back, he just bumbles along looking like a grumpy teenager whi has just been grounded - and often just gives away a foul because he's too slow / lazy / useless <insert preferred answer>.
Also, this is why the top teams are not only comfortable IN possession, but also work hard and up the pace to win the ball back when they don't have it. Rather than sit just off and hope the opposition doesn't get too close to the goal (like our boys do). Almost all if the goals we conceded vs Spurs were defenders backing off and backing off until the striker had a shooting opportunity. Rather than putting pressure on the ball. We are nowhere near even the mid-table Prem teams in this area. Either for ability while in possession, or at trying.to win the ball back. Weve just been lucky that out of the few chances we have actually created so far this season, most have gone in. We cant rely on that all season.
