"The ape-descendant will greet him in return, but in deference to a million years of evolution, he will not attempt to pick fleas off him; Earth men are not proud of their ancestors and never invite them round to dinner."

    Douglas Adams

The universe and it's contents abide by the first rule of thermodynamics, in that you cannot get something for nothing. So if you are an asshole and enjoy hurting your fellow man for kudos or elevation of your own conceit, please realise that if there is an afterlife, which science says there must be, you'll continue to be an asshole and share the company of other assholes for eternity.

    Gelan Swift

ps. There isn't a God...it's just a lot of nonsense written by really old scientists that thought the world was flat and other such garbage.

What point are you trying to make?
    Because it really escapes me.

Are you proposing we ban alcohol, and all live a totally risk-averse lifestyle?
Not getting out of bed for fear of breaking our necks falling down the stairs?

And what is this playing down of COVID19 because it only kills very old people?
The very first time you mentioned this (just after joining this forum) I asked you the perfectly straightforward question are you suggesting the lives of old and vulnerable people matter less than the lives of young, healthy people?
Because that is very much what it looks like you are implying.

For a reply I got a volley of foul abuse, which caused me to put you on 'ignore' for a few weeks.

Why is it an over-reaction for society to want to protect old folk?
Drinking and other harmful lifestyle choices are just that - choices. The price of a free society.
None of us want a society where we are told what to eat and drink and have other freedoms removed 'for our own good'.
And nobody (particularly not an elderly or frail person) chooses to contract Coronavirus.

    Honestly I don't get this.

I would however appreciate a civil reply.
Any more abuse on this subject will be deleted.

Abuse? How can my thoughts and views be abuse? I didn't see you moderate me being called mentally ill, or a pathetic human being...don't worry, I'm an adult and don't need protecting. If you need the rush, go ahead and remove the subject matter, sweep it under the carpet whatever. ps. You could always put me on ignore, I'd be cool with that..

ps. Yes I would like alcohol banned, or is that thought classed as abuse?

As a moderator I don't have the option of putting you on 'ignore'. I can't moderate what I cannot see.

If you wish to report any posts aimed at you that you believe to be abusive there is a 'report' button.
I did not see the examples you gave, but I'll take a look at them if you still wish to report them to me.

No subject matter will be deleted, only abuse.
The abuse you directed at me a while back was posted before I was a moderator. It wasn't on my watch so to speak, so it's done with as far as I'm concerned. But I won't tolerate the same kind of thing again now. Not from anybody, about anybody else.

Shall we call it a draw?

Anyway, match thread time, so get your ass over there.

    Ok, now some good news!

I've had my own science since 4th May 2018. I call it "Contra Physics" I solve problems with colours, and also make rough predictions. Like any new science it has been scorned at, the devils work and all that. Whatever, I have only one positive prediction, but I'm happy to be dug out later if I'm wrong. There is no emotional input in my predictions, just hard cold maths.

The UK and Italy to be recognised as developing herd immunity by the end of October. I wont be wrong.

We could do with some good news.

I don't like having to deliver shopping to my old mum's house on a Saturday but not being able to go inside.
Chatting on the doorstep for a while is better than nothing, but no good if the weather turns bad (which it will).

There are going to be a lot of frustrated, depressed folk around if these restrictions are not eased a bit by Christmas.
London has to get itself back into the lowest tier by then.
If not, more and more people will just disregard the rules.

    EDIT:

Last week's figures for infections & fatalities in Europe will be posted tomorrow morning I expect.
I don't think there will be much good news there.

This has been mentioned before. Is there any evidence of predictions that have been made in a public domain that have come to pass and are directly attributable to this "Contra Physics" rather than the natural cause of events?

Nice thinking PL. Public domain no, some emails to myself...still waiting. I'm on a slow learning curve, it's like learning a different language without knowing the connection to your own language. Above is my first prediction in the public domain. If you remove the "natural" from your last sentence, the doorway to my science is open to you.

ps. The day I discovered Contra Physics, and before it was usable, I said to my mentally ill partner "I can get you well" "Well" would be an understatement. Coincidence? No, she was too ill. It's a beautiful story.

Hospital admissions per region as of today
(Figures in brackets are the number on ventilators)
    South West 158 (20)
    South East 269 (11)
    London 467 (82)
    East 229 (21)
    Midlands 823 (91)
    North East 1,165 (109)
    North West 1,703 (160)

All of these MP's and mayor's in the Northern regions that are refusing to budge on restrictions should be removed from office!!

It's a difficult one as they have an honour agreement with the people that elected them, plus many are hoping that Sweden has the last laugh. Dogs left in cages tend to bite.

I am not looking to oppress you but science is underwritten by rigorous testing and consistent results.

With the greatest of respect, what you have put forward seems no more than a notion.

The herd immunity outcome has been predicted by one side of the ongoing argument between experts. Being in favour of one side of the argument is fine but attributing your choice to a development in physics known only to you stretches credibility.

What is the scientific basis for your statement?

It's a hobby, I enjoy it,. Some people like it. It's ok if you think it's rubbish. I don't mind people knowing what makes me happy. We were hiding even before Covid.

    18th October update;

    No good news to report.
The UK, France and Spain continue to suffer worse than other countries, but infection rates are definitely on the climb right across Europe.
Germany and Italy seem to be losing their grip, and rates are very high again in Belgium - a much smaller country than most of its neighbours.

I wonder how long it will be before London is pushed into tier 3.
We really need to see a fall-off in infection rates in current tier 3 areas within 2 to 3 weeks.

The virus must be very pleased with the way people are flouting restrictions.
