Your quite right it’s a squad.
Any league - any division - any country a ‘squad’ of say 22 players rarely consists of 22 equally ‘classs’ players for their place in the pyramid of leagues.
A squad anywhere usually consists of say
12 adequate players for their level

6/7 good players that play even better if they have a class above them to aid them

4/5 that could easily be at ease in the next level with any club - that provide an inspiration to the rest of the squad.

So I agree that if we go up it would crazy if not downright stupid to ‘buy’ a whole team.
Just buy players that fit AT THE LEAST the level that the club is currently playing in.
    Good 3 away pts today.
This time next week will tell us more of our likely aspirations.

I'd say at this point Willis, maybe Wright, O'Nien, Hume and Gooch could start in the championship. The attacking side needs a lot of work.

The news coming out to people who know people is that

    1) a deal seems to be done

    2) it’s not a full clean sheet as we wanted (ie the chances are Donald is still on the percentages)

    3) investment is likely

    4) some good football people are coming in (some including me are hoping Brian Marwood)

so all in all there might be an end to this little chapter of the ownership of Sunderland saga !

I would be stunned if Brian Marwood is leaving Man City to get involved with Sunderland. Don’t know much he is worth but even being a silent investor would be odd given his current role.

I would also imagine, given the terms of the FPP loan, that this is likely to involve GF in particular. He has retired from the Dell family office job but the other two haven’t. I don’t have direct info just to be clear but am just thinking what is the most logical & likely deal.

Best guess would be for the FPP loan to be converted into shares (not sure what % though). GF and Sartori (seems to be the rumour) buying shares off SD. I struggle to imagine GF not wanting a majority shareholding for him + FPP. So that implies SD has to go down to something under 20%.

But if there is genuinely ‘investment’ coming in to the club, not just selling of shares, that must mean CM is diluted down as well. More likely it is a sale of the shares Madrox owns in SAFC. So CM can still own 6% of Madrox but the amount of SAFC that Madrox owns goes down.

So maybe Madrox is selling up to 80% of SAFC.

I’m hoping for this he might have his rose tinted specs on but you never know, 60 year old a millionaire whose had a great career and been a success at everything he’s done he might just want to do something for his hometown club. If it was me in his position I certainly would, fingers crossed it is him

Hearing its a bit premature to say its a done deal.

Also, saying Marwood is not involved nor is Furhman.

However, we will see sooner rather than later. Still hearing something will be said/released before 10th November.

The deal is done comment is to say they have finally agreed to it all. Not that the deal is signed off and to be announced now.

Nowt should happen to change things now but I guess until the ink is dry...

    Just for clarity

I've heard all sorts but don't know many details.

But unless FPP are being repaid they're involved, that's a fact.

its probably not Furhman at all. the loan was from FPP iirc, which he has now parted company from, so I doubt he's involved.
