Agree it’s a bit silly. However I think all clubs are prob wondering the same thing and it would be nice for fans and clubs if they could explain exactly why the decision was made. Same for others not just ours. if they came out and gave a reason why these controversial incidents are given then at least it adds a bit of clarity. At the moment no ones knows what is and isn’t offside, what is a red, what is handball etc
I think now VAR is here they should be forced to explain controversial decisions post match tbh. I know people used to say that before but felt it'd have been harsh on refs who'd seen it once to be shown a replay immediately post game and asked to explain. Absolutely no reason why they can't now though.
It is unlikely that a player with an ACL would walk unaided from the pitch, the knee would be totally unstable. A lateral collateral ligament injury is more likely and much less serious. I am worried though. It was a truly reckless tackle, a case of assault rather than anything acceptable in a football match. The Richardson tackle was beyond belief. A real leg breaker. Action should be taken after the event like in rugby and this sort of behaviour should result in long bans
Go one step further, put microphones on them (referees and VAR operators) so we can all hear them reach a decision
for me it’s simple. If a player does something like that, he should be forced to sit out of the game for as long as the recipient of the NastY challenge is sidelined.....and there should be a citation process as per rugby.
I've witnessed a mate walk from the pitch unaided (we tried to help) but he certainly wasn't walking normal
this whole armpit malarkey is a joke. That needs to change to feet. You don’t armpit in an offside position ffs
Impossible to implement. There are genuine fair challenges that result in injury. Can you imagine the authorities that run this game drawing a line for that rule?
It isn't the armpit. It was changed in the summer to the sleeve. Rest of your point stands though, totally agree it should be the feet.
If it helps lads you've no longer had the worst VAR decision of the day go against you. I hear Newcastle are drafting a letter to the PL as we speak
I love the amount of angst I've read on this. The fact is nobody actually knows but beinsports have secured massive clicks as a result of jumping the gun. Van dijk is a hard case, hes no even had a wjinge and the physios checked him over so you know sonething is up. You just do not know which ligament if any hes done. Its perfectly possible to walk off. Weve seen it loads. Each injury is different so if he's just done the one it's quite possible compared yo say ox who just about did them all. We all know how reckless pickford is. He's done similar silly lead wuth the feet stuff in the past and it's why he makes so many errors. We also know how richarilson plays he's also had form for flying in and thats why he suits the prem. All I see is cheap point scoring, Robertson did this, allan did that. James is a diver. Etc etc. The reality is lfc blew two leads and loads of chances very poorly struck or off target. Wait and see how long players are out for before losing the rag. The best one though is the final var. The official doesn't even use the armpit, he's used the elbow to rule it out.
it’s the one thing wenger has suggested that’s right. If any part of your body is in line with the opponent then you’re onside. That way it means that to be offside all of your body has to be in front of the defender and you’re thrn clewrly gaining an advantage.
You're not necessarily right - - I did my thigh once in a 5-a side. Totally fine - till I tried to run
This to me is one of the main issues with VAR (there are many others) - if you're going to use technology to scrutinise this closely then it comes down to a matter of centimetres, which is just overkill, imo.
I disagree there, VAR is a joke and it's about time clubs started putting pressure on the idiots running the show.
They're not putting pressure on about VAR in general though are they? They're moaning about two specific decisions. Didn't hear Liverpool FC complain about VAR last year, maybe you hadn't been ****ed over til now? Pretty lucky if so tbh.
