The worrying thing is his actual words were "... there will be many more bumps in the road ....".

To be fair to him, pretty much any team that has ever won a league or been promoted has hit bumps in the road along the way. I would never expect us not to have them.... It's in our nature if nothing else haha

Yep, true. But after last season's debacle, a couple more bumps like last week's in the next couple of games and surely he's a gonner. I'd rather he learns from last week and we storm the division with him as manager .... but the evidence suggests he doesn't learn.

A good team performance today will go some way of wiping out the Fleetwood car crash. Time will tell how the transfer widow has gone so hopefully by the time we play at some of the clubs looking for a scalp McCann has a fully fit squad to pick from.

He has a fully fit squad bar James Scott, who at best would be on the bench, todays team should be his strongest starting 11 possible

Was Dayullll our first game on SKY?

I have a horrible memory of our chav brigade getting on the pitch and charging their 'family stand' cue screaming of lots of small kids, the 3 old bobbies and couple of specials nnot knowing what to do, within 5 minutes grating madchester robo-cops arrived on mass...

Rochdale are nowhere near as good as Fleetwood, but my worry is that teams like them tend to drag us down to their level.

Our quality should see us through, though the frustration will come from their ultra defensive style as opposed to them troubling our goal.

    2-0, but a crap first 60 minutes.

SECRET SCOUT: Hull's Lewis-Potter is a vibrant young talent, but needs to become more goal conscious

Our scout is a top football expert who attends matches each week searching for the next star. He’ll bring you his verdict in Sportsmail.

    KEANE LEWIS-POTTER FACTFILE
    AGE: 19

    CLUB: HULL CITY

    POSITION: LEFT MIDFIELD

    VALUE: £350,000

    WHAT HAS HE GOT?
Local boy Keane Lewis-Potter has secured a regular place in a Hull side who have lost all their best players over the last few seasons.

Now that Harry Maguire, Andrew Robertson and Jarrod Bowen have moved on, there are chances for others and this teenager has shown promising form from left midfield.

Holding that wide berth, he was desperate to receive more of the ball but the harem scarem nature of this particular game produced little controlled football.

When he did receive the ball, he moved forward well, taking the ball on the half-turn in his stride with comfortable control.

His performance was promising, stretching the opposition defence when he got the opportunity.

Hull's Keane Lewis-Potter is always eager to get on the ball and looks a promising talent
He appears to have a good leap and timed one run perfectly to direct a firm header into the goal. It was also noticeable that he drove into the box when a cross was delivered from the opposite side.

As the game became stretched, there was little continuity in a match dictated by powerful players.

    WHAT DOES HE NEED?
He was looking for help when confronted by muscular defenders but I felt he needed a clever player inside him to play combinations.

Lewis-Potter needs to be surrounded by calm heads to release him and also requires passing players.

At one stage, needing to offer variety, he swapped wings and was very unlucky on two occasions when he made purposeful runs behind the full back only to discover the pass was not accurate enough to find him.

I would like to have seen him in possession more but undoubtedly he understands the position and gives vibrancy to the team with his tidy skills.

His record suggests he needs to become more goal conscious but there was enough here to suggest that, with a regular place, he will progress. I hope he doesn’t grow frustrated.

A slim build, the 19-year-old appears to struggle when confronted by muscular defenders

Whenever I've been to Rochdale their pitch was the great leveller, the drainage must have been terrible.

I’d rather have had Fleming at LB after the car crash performance from Elder v Fleetwood. I can’t see how you can keep your place after such an abysmal performance.

Is De Wijs injured or dropped?

No great loss either way, for me.
