Just hope the lad get's through the op and he does get back on the pitch. I still think he has something to offer us, just keep the faith.
I didn't mean to suggest he was getting nothing, but could have worded my post better. But he must be on a lot less than full wages. So costing us nothing in the whole scheme of things. If he gets over this he could be worth £5 million. So a good investment if it all works out. I'm sure HJ & BR know what they are doing. And don't the Swans have insurance that pays out for situations like this? Your link about pay as you play contracts says that usually a player will be on a VERY LOW base salary. I don't know what they mean by this but I doubt Bodde is on 40% of his salary after such a long time out. I also disagree with the article that it is against employment law to terminate the contract of an employee because he is unable to do his job e.g. due to illness or injury. People are sacked every day for these reasons and employment tribunals and the courts have judged these to be legal. But football is a little different and it depends what is written into the contract, as players usually suffer injuries as a direct result of their work. This this is probably different to injuries received outside of the workplace. But all of this should be covered in the contract.
Not that one jager, anyway doesnt matter now . Casual fan- i was just using those figurer as an example As stated above nobody really knows exactly what the numbers Are but it wont be peanuts like people Think. There is alot going on with ferrie more than people think
what do you call low casual???? you can bet he gets around £8-10k/week, and at the end of the day...HAVE WE MISSED HIM????We cant have as we are in the premiership without him.....
Yes, Dai, we have missed him. A player of that quality will always be missed. Yes I know we are in the PL and doing well without him but had he been available who's to say that we wouldn't have been promoted automatically and perhaps currently be sitting higher up the table? The lads have been brilliant in getting us to where we are now, there's no question of that; but Bodde is so good he would have been bound to make a difference. I'd go so far as to say that if we had a fully fit Bodde in the team we would be odds on to survive at this level. We can but dream and pray for the lad's recovery.
what part has bodde played these last 3 years in getting us to the premiership.??.......Absolutely no input whatsoever, it has cost us thousands of pounds though but in no way has he helped us get to where we are.. i had given up seeing bodde playing at the top long ago and it is looking like it will be the case. its a shame of course it is but that's the way it is and we are wasting money on a hope that will never happen, he will never be as good again and with his history he wont last 5 minutes on the pitch before he is injured again.
Dai I have to disagree on this one. We've got to the Premier league, indeed, but whose to say we wouldn't have got there sooner if we hadn't lost him??!! The 1st season I certainly feel we would have made the play-offs with him. Then once your in them, anything could have happened!! Last season we were a 'Bodde-type' player short of being champions in my opinion!! He is/was that good. When we had teams up for a scrap, we went missing at times, don't think Ferrie would have!!...... What I always feel about Ferrie, is how far could his potential have taken him??!! Shame....
nobody knows what would have happened 3 years ago if bodde was not injured, My feeling is that he would have left us anyway as the money we would be offered and premiership football would be to much for bodde and us to turn down, so IMO if bodde was injury free then he would not be our player anyway he would be gone, What could be is all speculation as none of us knows what would have happened, but the reality is that he has not played any part of our rise to the premiership and if fit he would not be with us anyway, He was a wanted man before his injury and was being watched by many top clubs and his injury came at the wrong time for him and the club. He was a great player but 3 years down the line there wont be many clubs if any would take a risk on him as he is to costly and injury prone.....
WSAF, exactly. Dai has missed the point. We all know that Bodde has contributed nothing these past three seasons but HAD he played for us we would have achieved even more. Nailed on!! And, yes, Bodde is that good. I know the odds are stacked against his return but players have come back from equally serious injuries. We can but hope, his return is worth hoping for and I won't write him off until Bodde himself says that he's finished. Dreams do come true now and again.
With respect Ivor how do you know we would have acheived more? Nailed on ?? doubt it. people forget how many games he used to spend sitting in the stands serving suspensions !! they also forget he was always a bit injury prone and they also forget how quickly he was ready to jump ship when a better offer came in for him. If he had been fit these last 3 seasons then my view is that he would have ****ed off and taken higher wages else where at another club. Bodde was a class player dont me wrong and also one of my favourites(think he was most peoples) its a shame he got injured but its almost like the lee trundle scenario all over again, people think the guy can do no wrong,he had plenty of faults as well dont forget. ferrie getting sent off in the ccc would have cost us as many points as he would have earned us so it kind of balances out IMO. Lets hope he is touched by God and makes a Roy of the Rovers return but IMO he will never play first team football ever again .Beleive me I would really love to be proven wrong on this !
"What I always feel about Ferrie, is how far could his potential have taken him??!! " WSAF Maybe he had already reached his potential ? maybe ccc was his level? maybe if my granny had balls she would be my grandfather I dont think we will ever find out TBH ,a shame indeed
Tend to have exactly the same sentiments when it comes to Bodde, Ivor. Nobody knows what could have happened, of course. But if anyone was going to put money on our chances then, it would've been a safer bet with him. I wish him all the best in his battle!! Dai, if we'd gone up the 1st season, not only would he have achieved Premier league football. With the increased 'financial-clout', there's every likelihood we would've encouraged him from having 'itchy-feet'!!
Didnt stop Pratley and Dorus from getting itchy feet though did it ? and they were 10 times more loyal then ferrie ever was , didnt remember those boys asking for a transfer
Well funny how many people as good as wrote off the likes of Monk, Gower, Leon & probably a few others about coping in the Championship alone!! Well their doing it in the Premier league now, so we all have our opinions!! I just feel I'll stick to what I believe when it comes to the potential that Bodde could have had.......
Wait a minute!! Is that the same 'loyal' Dorus, who wasn't sure if he had 'itchy-feet' or not, when he was a stalling over a new contract, if my memory's correct, a few seasons ago??!!
Point is we will never know. I respect your views of course and would actually tend to agree that bodde would be the most likely prem player from the squad of L1 swans. Though I must support dai s point RE ferrie being else where if he remained fit. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/swansea_city/7431111.stm http://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/17031/ferrie-bodde/p1
Dorus was at the end of his contract and the right to haggle for what ever he could get, totally different situation to ferrie boddes transfer request my friend
