Unless you’re in the camp that this is a load of old bollocks and massive overreaction to a coronavirus no more deadly than previous coronavirus we dealt with without shutting the world economy down.

Raphinha in the squad on Monday so not bad going getting up to speed and Bielsa says he is a player who can play in all 3 front positions and will also be coached into an attacking midfield role. Bielsa says Raphinha has the skill, the fast brain to be able to add another dimension to his game..... Kalvin Raphinha it is then :emoticon-0148-yes:

Just goes to show how precarious it is with young players, Ben Woodburn, going to be the next big thing, could only find Blackpool to take him on loan. I'd say, at best only 1 in 10 of these next big things get to play regular premier league football.

Thats actually a great shout mate but I bet its worse than that. This covid thing will only make it worse as EFL clubs make cuts to academies. Man Utds class of 92 was recognised because a high % of them made it I suppose. A great academy like ours sees us release half a dozen every year and so far none has gone on to be prem players but plenty have made a good living in the Championship but mainly L1&2. Yes plenty we sold made it big but none who were released.

Heard Orta and many other Sporting Directors talk about transfers and the industry average being being 1 in 3 successes, wonder if theres an average for academy kids succeeding?

That was part of my thought process, we've had loads of kids we've all got excited about but since say 2000, how many have actually made it.

Milner, Delph, Rose, Smith, Kewell pre that Speed Batty, Phillips now, there will be a few more that haven't immediately come to mind but there's many that have ended up in lower leagues. Look at the 3 that went to Chelsea, 2 Man City and the LB at Everton for example

I’m getting rather fed up with all this international malarkey injuring our players and no compensation

Berardi has just signed a one year extension to his contract. Couldn’t be happier for the bloke. Being sentimental won’t get us far in the Premier League but keeping Berardi around the dressing room might keep morale up.

I think it will make all of the players there now, care that much more for the club that they are not just “pieces of meat” when they are useful to us. A club that will look after their welfare. Whilst I agree that there’s little room for sentiment in football, Berra didn’t hesitate to sign an extension to his contact when others at other clubs wouldn’t for the very reason he now finds himself in, I’m glad that Leeds has done this <applause>
