Wild boar I believe are naturally aggressive and can pose a serious threat to frail adults and children, more so during the mating season If our domesticated pigs were left to their own devices without human control they would quickly revert to their wild status and pose a threat to humans The same would apply to cattle and even sheep, we breed out all aggressive behaviour to ensure they are manageable
Morning all, another grey start to the day with some showers expected this afternoon. There are some thought provoking comments in the French press and social media after Macron gave his interview last night. I do like one that made me chuckle. "On a donc arrêté de se faire la bise et maintenant on va manger à 18h00. C’est pas un virus chinois, c’est un virus anglais." If my language skills are operating without a coffee infusion yet, it translates as, "So we stopped kissing and now we're going to eat at 6:00 p.m. It’s not a Chinese virus, it’s an English virus." Il nous reste l’humour ! Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. Cloudy and not very warm, but a dry day is forecast. Expecting a parcel to arrive today from my youngest who has sent us a supply of teabags. Although she has put the correct address on it, the carrier in England has got it wrong, and our life sustaining parcel is somewhere at a depot several hundred miles away. La Poste have realized that it is in the wrong place and will redirect it, so with luck it will turn up next week. Have a good day whatever you are doing. <ol>
Morning all. Grey currently, but sunshine expected this afternoon and about 5°C warmer than yesterday. La Poste yesterday told me that my parcel would arrive today, but the postie has driven by, so I guess it will be Monday now. I noticed on the shopping trip to town that the mountain of chocolate gift boxes for Christmas has arrived. Such things never used to be on sale here before the middle of November, but maybe with the strange circumstances this year people will be buying presents over a longer period. Hope everyone has a good day
Christman talk seems to be all around here.. maybe it is the next significan event other than relentless versions of lockdown... Mind you I would be happy to ignore the whole thing... apart from the enjoyment of the little ones.....
Whatever you do, DON'T use the SNCF parcels system. (SERNAM) . They managed to 'lose' our tandem when it was being shipped back to Bridgwater for a major repair, during a long-distance tour. It took us 9 months to get the refund - it's based on weight apparently - so they knew the amount the day we claimed. Their excuses were very inventive , but mostly based on the fact that only 1 person could deal with it, when she wasn't on holiday, on a course, had lost our paperwork (twice !) moved office. I suspect that someone saw we had an (undamaged) Rohlhoff gearbox, and the bike disappeared into somebody's garage.
Didn´t know where to put this post, and in the UK it is late now, however, a great fight coming up in the boxing world. One sport I love.
Morning all. A quite thick mist an hour or so ago, but the sun has now burnt it off, and it looks like a decent day ahead of us. The seasons are on the change now. Sunday mornings I quite often hear the sound of gunfire at this time of the year, but so far not a sound. I should be safe therefore to go and collect some vegetables for our dinner today. Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.
https://www.not606.com/threads/other-sports.268508/ may be appropriate - as would a mention of who the fight is between...
Shows how out of touch I've become - haven't heard of either of them. I'm still stuck in the days of the two Tony Mundines, Kostya Tszyu and Jeff Fenech...
Morning all. A lovely blue sky for a change, and the vapour trails are up there for all to see. After weeks of little air traffic things are getting back to normal, which is a bit of a shame on environmental grounds, but maybe will not last long as countries seem to be shutting down again. Youngest granddaughters birthday as she hits the teenager mark for the first time, so off to have a birthday tea with her later. A further do will be held on Wednesday with her mates all in 100 mile an hour French. I am more of a 50 mph person. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Morning all. Very grey again with a light shower every now and again, but very mild. Last night was wild and windy with leaves and twigs scattered over the roads. Coming home quite late there was a tree halfway across the road, which would have been dangerous if it had been larger. It was in a place where you have to slow right down because of the bends in the road, so you did have time just about to see it. No doubt a farmer will have it logged up by now. Have a good and safe day.
Morning all. Quite a gale blew overnight, and there must have been a power cut as all the digital clocks attached to the mains were flashing this morning. Mme was woken with the phone in our bedroom lighting up and pinging when it came back on. She had no idea what time it was, but she thought it was still dark. It is still blowing well, and with the clouds moving at a rapid pace it is bright one minute, then light showers the next. Have a good day whatever you plan to do.
Morning all... trailing upo another garden path today in the search for (Mme!) Yorkies new home... all very angsty.... we were on the verge of making a deal on one two days ago... . and then another came up.... no wonder Yorkie is not sleeping!
Morning all. Sunshine and showers again today. Went to collect some beetroot from the field yesterday afternoon and had to take refuge in the shed as another dark cloud emptied itself. Off on a paper hunt today to prove that we lived here 13 years ago. The website for our residents cards is now up and running which will reduce the mountain of paperwork that was required earlier. It all looks easy, but unless you are a collector of old documents finding an acceptable piece might take a time. Have a good day whatever you must do.
