did I say that? But since you brought it up, I’m not saying there was deliberate cooking of numbers, nor am I bothered about a dying ‘of’ or ‘with’ Covid debate - But there was some serious scaremongering back in March. It was obviously a horrific time but it certainly makes good sense to scare the sh*t out of a population if you want them to do as they’re told. The only news was bad news. Then when they want kids back at school the pr machine kicks in a different direction. Be harder to get that same terror this time round, especially now most people believe it’s only an issue for the old/infirm
Ask the government, its them who, as of Oct 8th have added people with flu to the covid cases list Few people die flu, really 26k plus in 2017/18 would disagree if they hadn't died of flu You're right, the intelligence of some people is a ****ing pandemic
I don't believe any countries stats as they al have there own parameters. Maybe it's time time to lose the battle to win the war. Just let it go rife, some will die as sad as that is. Then we all get back to normal.
ever used a Hoover? A biro? Sellotape? People use flu as a generic noun - for anything from a sniffle to a chest infection. because all they have is the symptoms not the cause. Go to your Gp and they don’t know if it’s a virus or bacterial infection but pump you full of antibiotics just in case. If they don’t know from the symptoms, how does the man in the street? Not everyone’s a virologist, although we all now think we are. so, yes flu is a catch all term im not going to dispute your point re the intelligence of the population, just your choice of example to demonstrate it.
Kids with a runny nose being sent home from school and told to isolate for two weeks because they've got covid .... or is it a cold?, yup, everyone's a doctor.
I didn't specifically mean YOU, I meant you as in people in general, get that chip off your shoulder Kids are the ones catching it now, but when they pass it onto grandparents etc, the death rates will rise again.
I don't understand the comment you make about the government adding flu and covid-19 cases together, have you got a reference?
I was sent a link from the government website and was reading it last week, i will try find it and link it for you
It's not right, the government have started publishing flu numbers and covid numbers on the same documents, separately, but not added together.
What i read was "combined" Chesh, definitely not separate, i'm open to be proved wrong if you have the link, can i **** find it
Can't post links on my phone, but found it on fullfact.org,says some people are quoting they are added together on social media, but it's not true, separate on same document.
Again, are you talking about deaths from the virus influenza or the more vague “flu and pneumonia”? you’re definitely quoting the figures for the latter. Either way your theory of them “adding” the deaths doesn’t really make sense. Firstly, even if these deaths were counted from earlier in the year that’s only a few thousand over the spring months. It would hardly make a difference to the total 45,000 or so excess deaths we saw in a few months. Secondly, it doesn’t explain why this year has seen far more excess deaths up until October than any year on record. Or are you suggesting that they only started adding them in October and for some reason the deaths aren’t really rising even though infection rates are? There are so many cases of those who don’t know anything about a subject don’t realise how little they know and end up shouting louder than those who know where their limits are, hence you end up with Donald “bring light into the body” Trump and Nadine “There’s no such thing as herd immunity or we wouldn’t have chicken pox” Dorries.Morbidity and mortality research is my career so I can probably bring something useful to most conversations on this but if there was on expert on say, T-Cell immunity, I hope i’d realise how stupid i’d look trying to pretend I knew what I was talking about. By the way, i’m not one of those arguing for an indefinite lockdown, that wouldn’t be my policy at all I just find it fascinating how few people in this country use critical thinking and how many just repeat whatever they’ve heard from whatever echo chamber they spend their time in.
Prime example of my above point. You read something that someone made up, and instead of spending all of thirty seconds finding evidence that it’s made up you decided to advertise your gullibility to the world.
Here’s the article. https://fullfact.org/health/flu-covid-phe-not-combined/ That was more of a general rant than aimed at OLOF. I actually agree with a lot that he says, I just prefer people to back up their arguments with evidence than the partisan bollocks we seem to fall into over the internet.
Good link bud and i too despair about people taking snippets and not using the full facts. What i want to see is the full death counts for each country given by the W. H. O.. Then compare them to the last five years. Only then will we get a true picture over the year.
No i didnt you stupid ****, you turn up on here at the start of this bollox and profess to be all knowing and a ****ing expert on the subject,. What do you do for the nhs, a brain surgeon or a ****in floor cleaner? I'll bet youre one of those dopey ****s who wears a mask in a car on your own
