Its a trickle down effect though. If it negatively impacts league clubs, it'll do the same to non league clubs. And they are fragile things, less able to survive even a minor drop in income.
Worth pointing out that this was just an initial response. It was felt that the anger of the fans, who RAWA represent, should be acknowledged (or else people would wonder why they were just sitting silent). If this was all that was being considered, just another pledge to bring things up with the club at a meeting they still haven't agreed to, I'd be thoroughly disappointed. Thankfully it isn't. Nothing set in stone at this time but if anyone has any opinions on what the next step should be, it's very much worth getting in touch with them. I would say that the anger the fans feel with the club over this is equally felt by members, reps and committee members alike. I've mentioned to RAWA that I won't be giving any suggestions of what we should do right now because with the mood I'm in they'd be neither helpful nor constructive.
Hang on... if the rich greedy bas tards who tend to win all the cups and the league, bugger off. A lot of Financial Fair Play aims of levelling could be achieved. Man Chitty with their dodgy accountants and slick lawyers, have driven a horse and cart through exsting FFP.. Sure some devaluing of winning, without the so called big clubs...may happen for a few years..but after that I am certain nobody will give a toss. If several miracles were to occur and we found ourselves in the top tier... it would be great to think we could win the league, rather than just hope for survival year after year.
I appreciate you may not know, or alternatively may not be able to say, but it seems to me like RAWA and the fanzines, even the local media etc have been extremely reluctant to continue the pressure against Donald and the rest since the last meeting where he basically blamed everybody but himself for the situation. Has there been a reluctance within RAWA to continue applying the pressure? It also seems strange that the fanzines and especially the Echo have backed off so much. It felt like up to the time of the last fans meeting with the club that all media outlets were running more and more stories each turning the screw slightly more, but they then just stopped almost like they had been warned off.
No, but it will change the complete football landscape for the worse. The 'new' elite level would hoover up all of the TV money, sponsorship etc. TV companies would pay less money for what is in effect a second tier, so the quality would drop off, so public interest would diminish. That would lead to less income again, and so on ad infinitum. With less money, the lower league clubs would find it harder to survive, so we'd lose more clubs. If league clubs can't survive, non league clubs won't. Consequences are far reaching and they're all bad for football as we know it.
Yeah the chancers cashed the hinges in first for the scrap metal price - every penny they can screw us for is their motto
So the proposals have been rejected anyway. There'll be other discussions but at least these ones aren't happening. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1316369749648068613
I don't think there's been any reluctance tbh. I know that those on the committee of RAWA are aware that they're there to represent the fans views and that, ultimately, if the fans want further action / protests etc then RAWA will be open to suggestions and then leading on /organising it. I think timing is a big thing, for a start they're converting to a trust at the minute (should be complete in a few weeks) and will have more impact when that is complete, then there's been the issue of no fans in games and it's harder to get traction for anything when you're pretty much limited to social media. They do try to do things through the right channels as well and I think they'd like to get this next structured dialogue meeting in the calendar so that they can get frustrations officially noted, but there's definite anger after this latest misstep and I imagine things will pick up pace.
“ If people don’t act then they are as culpable”. I wasn’t giving your advice. Must try harder to be funny
