WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?

I used to think I was just a normal person, but I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a racist.

I am a fiscal and moral conservative, which by today's standards, makes me a fascist.

I am heterosexual, which now makes me a homophobe.

I am mostly non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and an ally of big business.

I was christened by my parents (who were married, in a church and remained married until they died), which now labels me as an infidel.

I am older than 65 and retired, which makes me useless.

I think and I reason, therefore I doubt much that the main -stream media tells me, which must make me a reactionary.

I am proud of my heritage which makes me a xenophobe
I value my safety and that of my family and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing extremist.

I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.

I believe in the defence and protection of the Country for and by all citizens, and I honour those who served in the Armed Forces, which now makes me a right wing-militant.

Funny but it's all just taken place over the last 7 or 8 years!

Finally, as if all this nonsense wasn't enough to deal with, now I'm not even sure which toilet to go into.

Well your'e right about the division, though it has almost always been there in voting terms. But Trump is by no means the only "minority" president, the most recent other being Bill Clinton, who only won narrowly through Ross Perot raking in about 15m votes.

But I think there is a difference between Trump being a gauche individual, unsuited to the office, ( as was Hillary Clinton of course and as is , very clearly Joe Biden), and him being the cause, or certainly the sole cause of division.

A great many Democrats, who have now swung sharply to the left simply refused to accept the result in 2016, egged on by a media who were likewise horror struck to see the see the status quo upset. This by the way is why Trump won more than any other reason; he was not a machine politician, and enough people sensed it, especially those stupid white working class people. A bit like myself perhaps.

This refusal to accept defeat, an absolute cornerstone of democracy, was also seen here after the 2016 referendum, and after last years election, with people marching in the streets waving banners demanding " democracy now,!" a week after an election. I might have missed it, but I cannot remember such demonstrations when Clinton became president on a thin vote, or when Labour last won a majority here with about 40% of the vote, the usual kind of figure for a party here.

Society generally is more divided now, and much of the reason for that is the growth of the insidious identity politics which , by definition seeks to divide, and coral everyone into some form of group. The better there to humour and harvest their votes . There is no room for a Winston Smith in this world it seems.

Adult dissent and reasonable discussion is never heard now on mainstream TV or radio. It's all little gotcha clips and facile textual analysis. It can be found but you have to look for it.

I wouldn't be worrying about the supreme court either actually. It has a great record of balancing itself, and for all it's weight only accepts a very limited amount of cases a year, and those only meant to be for when an individual is denied a particular right by another according to the constitution, although this is always stretched.

But anyway, the question is this maybe: If it is not going to be Trump, which is very likely, and in practice is not going to be Biden, who is incapable now never mind in four years time, then presumably it will be Harris? And what damage does that do?

And, how the hell does a country with the USA's history end up with Clinton, Trump and Biden to pick from over the last two elections!?
I saw something today that showed the Democrats have only lost the popular vote once in the last 8 elections....some kind of democracy they have there then.... I believe Biden will win and I think he will win comfortably at least I hope so. I also don't mind Kamala Harris, she is a smart cookie, a 4 year stretch as vice president will help round off some rough edges. The problem Republicans have going forward is all the Senators that have supported Trump even tho he has been blatantly telling lies not to mention playing down Covid that led to the States having the worst death record in the world...Lindsey Graham, Pompeo and McConell to name a few...The Senate IMO will go to the Democrats

if there is a god it wont happen

What possible reason is there for an interventionist God siding with Trump.

As I said earlier, I dont have anything invested in it and I'm not really a big fan of either.

But how on earth could anyone consider Donald Trump a godly choice.
WHO SAID THAT NOT ME

Given the people I know who voted for the moron Trump last time who now wouldn't consider him and regret the vote in 2016, I would say he will lose badly this time. The polls also indicate this. Also, The fact he has flagged his intention to take this through the Supreme court after the election suggests he knows he's going to lose

only you mention Trump and god

That's just not true, is it?

Flanders also said he thinks Biden will win in the same reply as you're now picking and choosing from.

You replied to the entire thing. Not a portion of it.

Regardless, I'll reframe my question given your clarification...

Why would this god of yours intervene in the 2020 election when he clearly had no interest in getting involved in any of the ****ing tragedy we've had over the years.

Weird.

I disagree as the news that puts Biden ahead is biased, before covid the country was economically the best in the world, don't forget Biden's son got millions from Ukraine China and Russia despite having no qualifications and a dishonorable discharge from the Navy for being a crack head.his fathers favor pulling by what he could do for them got him those positions Biden has had 47 years in politics name me one good thing he has done in that time to help the nation.

My advice to you would be to turn the internet off, go outside and enjoy your retirement. Nothing you read online is helping your mental health.

WELL HE INTERVENED IN 2016 WHEN ALL THE POLLS WERE AGAINST TRUMP

God elected Trump?

Is that what you're suggesting?
i thought you were? quote ..What possible reason is there for an interventionist God siding with Trump... and against all odds and polls he still won in 2016? you tell me i don't know you were the first to mention god,

i used my quote as a figure of speech

I don't think we speak the same language. There's no point going any further with this.

Clinton did not lose the popular vote by the way. Trump lost it by a record 3 million..

Well the point I was making that in 1992, while he won more than any other candidate, Bush and Perot, who appealed to the same voter base won more. I've had to look it up, and Clinton won 44% , the others more or less the rest.

But, them's the rules. Al Gore almost certainly lost a tight one because of a similar, if much smaller intervention by Ralph Nader.
