I don't think it'd go through, but the situation is uncertain and uncertainty isn't good when you're talking about handing over 300 million pounds with a business plan not designed around the potential change. At the end of the day its a business venture and if they don't see the opportunity to turn 300 million into 1 billion or if they think they might be in danger of losing the 300 million they'll pull out.. Its not a dick swinging exersize
100% agree with this. If I was buying a club for 300m with an intention to invest significant sums in the near future then I'd want certainty I will be allowed to compete
The big 6 are terrified about this takeover and have been fighting tooth and nail to stop it, so having done all the can to stop it they've decided to remove the opportunity in the purchase and hope they finally go away. It's a nice play this from the cartel.. They've been after this for years , they've seen the opportunity to try and get it done and kill this takeover and the fears of another one ever coming along in the future.
I mean there has been strong indication from those who run the Newcastle bid that big clubs have indeed tried to block this and had Mr Masters to do their bidding. Funny that there is no mention of this project until Ashley and co launch their legal challenge. Maybe I'm reading too much into, maybe I'm too much of a cynic, but perhaps the timing of this announcement and the uncertainty it will create will be enough to put people off and make them walk away. Funny that...
Exactly what I thought the second it was leaked mate but the thought has completely gone over the heads of the intelligencia. I've seen people of twitter thinking it's a good thing for the takeover? I'm surely missing the logic in that? I'd love to know why
Anyone who’s come to that conclusion needs to lob themselves in a skip mate. It’s all moot anyway as this is going nowhere, all it’s done is expose exactly what these greedy Yank twats would do to our game in the name of their profit. I hope your Saudi takeover comes back from the dead now tbh, give the ****s someone else to worry about.
I can see an angle why people might think that. However what they have always got to remember is these guys with this type of money are playing 3D chess while the rest play checkers. They will want power, they will want a say, they will want to win. If they think for a second they won't be allowed a seat at the very top table, they'll just say thanks but no thanks. They certainly won't be dictated to by yanks or the Abu Dhabi boys.
Exactly there's nothing good about it to the buyer whoever it is. Imagine being about to hand over 300 million then hearing a whisper that the rules might change in such a way you can't succeed with your business plan and you'll end up with a worthless asset that you'll struggle to sell. Hmmmm.. Let me think.. Like you said unless they got reassurances it won't happen certainly not in the next 10 years they'll make for the trees imo. Instead of stopping them buying the club they've let them know they're trying to remove the potential behind the purchase even if they won the legal right to buy the club.
Except you are working on the premise that 8 other PL clubs are going to vote to give up their own power and give up their share of the money. One of the suggested “9” have already said that they won’t vote for it. The Clubs at the bottom half of the PL aren’t going to vote for it. It’s not going to happen. It’s an extreme starting point which was a “try on” by the two Clubs proposing it or as a distraction from the PPV scam.
I can’t see it happening. I can see a more sensible spread of wealth but increased rights for the big 9 just sends all the wrong signals. There won’t ever be a takeover again if this happens and it would instantly devalue every club outside the top 9. I can however see tv income being distributed based on viewing numbers. That actually seems fair. In fact it is probably possible to tie up the advertising revenue to the games viewed and spread the income accordingly. I see no problem with that. This is the only thing that needs to change in my opinion.
Why is that fair? Just because sky/bt choose to pick those clubs for viewing? If anything they should be grateful as it gives those clubs more global reach which in turn generates more income. What would be fair would be if all teams were shown an equal amount.
What would happen if one of the big 9 got relegated? Not out of the realms of possibility that west ham or Southampton could get demoted. Stupid plan that won't make it through.
they say the baton of the 9 would go to the next longest serving PL member but again they would have no bearing on the Cartel 6
I know. Just laughing at the clutching in the comments. Cathedral on a hill. Except it isn't and 'eglise ' is church, not cathedral.
