Broadcasting Premier League matches on a pay-per-view basis will lead to fans watching on illegal streams, says a football finance expert. Games not already picked to be shown live will be available on BT Sport Box Office or Sky Sports Box Office. The Premier League clubs see the "interim solution" as a way for people to still watch their teams, but some fans have criticised the £14.95 charge. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/54491180
I’m surprised Sky and BT have said yes to this considering they’re not getting money from it. It’s only going to bring negative press and a backlash. Rightly so.
Don’t think you need to subscribe to either of them to access their box office? People use a sky box (without subscription) for free view.
Broadcast companies must be secretly hoping that eventually all football will be pay per view.... I bet Sky Sports created COVID-19 in their laboratory....
There's so much football on TV I'm not able to watch most of it. I don't watch most of the games even though I have a Sky Sports subscription so I'm certainly not going to pay to watch matches I wouldn't have watched anyway. I watch a few of the top team's matches, I watch all of the Hull City and England matches and I watch MOTD. That's enough for most people who work.
Disgraceful that the England game isn't being shown on the BBC, not even the highlights, but they have highlights from the Womans PL tonight ????.
I agree they should have the highlights on the BBC , not sure why you link it to the Women's PL though
Because I'd rather be seeing the highlights of the national team in an important game, and not having my license fee spent of covering woman's football.
I know that the England team isn't very good today, but they are a bit better than National League standard.
£20 wasted IMO. The BBC could have cobbled together a bid if they binned Linekar and his little band of buddies, Ian Wright, and all the others who are on the BBC gravy train. Like Little Mix, Golf, RL and Graham Norton for starters. The national football team and the national cricket team should be on the BBC.
I agree, but the bastards had a contract for F1 and gave it up with three years still to run on it. On race days I now do a 'Likely Lads', and watch the Channel 4 highlights package.
I, for one, rather enjoy watching Billie Smart Vixens FC romping to another 12-0 victory on the WPL highlights.
I doubt the BBC base their programming on what Urika Peece fancies watching, fact is, the viewing figures for Women's football have gone through the roof and while the rights are still cheap, they're laughing.
