Tories face legal challenge over £3bn of 'missing' coronavirus contracts
Of £11bn in public money handed to private firms between April and September, campaigners say just £8bn is publicly accounted for - and are asking what the government has to hide

Johnson could totally lose control of the North tomorrow. Could be interesting. Mass unemployment, businesses shutting for good. People on the absolute breadline.

Well what should we do? I would like to hear some alternatives that make sense?
We have no opposition of any credibility. A group that ask questions but give no answers. A population that is divided, where only 20% obey self isolation rules and an app that isn't doing as well as expected. Scientist split and other countries going through the same s22t.
Too many complain but few offer alternatives.

She is spot on Wee Willy Kranky needs to answer certain questions. It seems that Salmond has gone against what she is claiming.

The opposition are the real problem here, of course. Embarrassing even for you.

The app has achieved its aims. Just a shame none of those aims was to be a competent track and trace app.

Not much they can do now, sadly, after pissing so much time away apart from crack on with the PR campaign to deflect as much of the blame as possible onto the public.

Some of that 12 billion that went on a system 'that isnt doing as well as expected' ( absolutely ****e more like) could have helped towards a scheme for all these people hes going to put out of work overnight. Unfortunately it's not a case of what 'we' should do. It's what we are told to do. If the opposition werent asking the questions I would be concerned. If they were giving the answers, then they should be in power. Another thing they could do, is get the ****ing test and trace running properley, not this current load of **** we have. Its pathetic. Sack that silly cow in charge and get someone capable of doing the job. Theres more people than just Tory barnoesses or donors out there.

The opposition are a joke. They offer nothing. Please remind me what Mr Wooden said we should do?..... eer I am still waiting Mr Starmer? Even this morning the best they could do was say the new rules are ”confussing’ and people would ’lose jobs’,.. No s££t Sherlock! What would you do? They asked... Guess what... Once again nothing. We have the worst opposition since the last one.
You also sound like a labour MP bob... First we should give the T&T money to struggling people then you say we need a decent track and trace... You have the finance of a Corbyn manifesto! Throw in some free broadband and we will all be happy.
Maybe as you are such an expert in this field you can tell us what we should be doing rather than just bitching about the government.
    I await you expert plan.

Same with you Watford... Instead of you continual bitching please enlighten us with a credible plan?
    This should be fun.

    @ELLERS

Not my job and as I said I think it’s now too late. We can’t bring back the dead or get the time back we had to suppress the first or second wave. I’d like to think some of the billions frittered away on quite literally nothing could be recouped but that’s probably unlikely. If there was any genuine intention to learn from the mistakes at the start of the year and do what’s best for their people, the government haven’t done much to demonstrate it. Far more concerned with saving their own reputation.

For clarity, the opposition is there to oppose. The government is there to govern. The latter isn’t doing much of that at all.

Your windmilling is more embarrassing now than when you could have at least (wrongly) argued earlier in the year that the government was trying to do the right thing and needed time to see if their alleged efforts would have a positive effect. I’m not as qualified as Mark Warburton to pick QPR’s tactics so I guess anyone on here who isn’t doesn’t have a UEFA A license can’t comment on the match thread. An increasingly small number of people are choosing to die on this hill but your loyalty to them against all logic would be admirable if it wasn’t so ****ing stupid.

You need to understand that this is not about any opposition parties mate. I appreciate that's an easy get out for people when defending the ****show. This government said that the economy and education could be reopened with a 'world beating' test and trace system. It would be logical to get that fully effective to start with. Surely 12 billion should suffice.

If I take all the tosh out of this post you have given me the answer.
You don't know and you are not qualified. Like the rest of us.
Over the last few weeks I have listened to many qualified and political voices. Media and commentators...The answer I get is nobody knows what to do. Even the WHO are now saying lockdowns are basically pointless... Mmm that's not what they said before... Truth is they are as baffled as the rest.
I said at the start the government are damned whatever they do. You make out that there is some die hard mentality for supporting them? When really it's just normal folk just using common sense while many others flaunt the rules and ruin it for the rest if us.
People moaned that we didn't lockdown soon enough... Remember it cost lives. Now those same voices are moaning about new lockdown restrictions. They can't have it both ways (unless they are Labour)?
I await a comprehensive answer to the solution.

We are what, over half a year on from that horrendous first wave?! The opposition actually asked what plans were being made to counter a second wave come the Autumn. Here we are! The plans were to reopen as much as possible, despite Chris Wittys reservations, without a credible test, track and trace system! This is a monumental **** up by the private companies enlisted by their chums to carry out. Its pathetic and that word alone sums up this government.

I keep telling you. A functioning test and trace. Local areas to run their own systems that actually work and funding for those areas sufficient enough to counter any restrictions applied. Or we could just keep handing contracts out to our mates for vast amounts of money for **** all. Levelling up the rich as per.

What is the point of Track and Trace when only 20% abide by the rules? It doesn't matter how blood good the system is if 80% won't self isolate when they are told?
As I said on the experts thread... It comes down to respect and sadly many in this country don't respect the rules.
Now the is another argument for loss of confidence in the rules ( Cummings/f22k ups/fatigue) but generally as a country we are not behaving as well as we could.

You aren’t qualified to hear one so kindly **** off.

Everyone acknowledges mistakes will be made by all governments, left or right. Not many will have promised to be the best in the world and fallen so far short of that. Not many will have done so quite so expensively for so little return. Not many will have come up with such a non-sensical slogan as “Stay Alert”. Not many will have shown a complete absence of leadership by not punishing their own for breaking their own rules. Not many will choose where to lock down based on where it’s politically advantageous to do so.

We’re getting Steve Slade but paying for Ronaldo. We’ve got Paul Hart in charge and you’re shouting at South Africa Road that none of the fans can criticise it.
