You obviously interpreted this proposal different to me What I saw was a future proposal for a super prem league with about half a dozen clubs or so who would play world wide in other words a foundation of super league world wide which would again siphon all tv money's up Leaving very little for other clubs hence the merry ground
Firstly, thank you for thinking I’m far younger than I am Secondly, if the quality is good and it the most successfully marketed and watched league in the world, why change? Do we want to become like the SPL and everyone playing each other four times a season just to generate some interest? Finally, make no mistake, this is the start of a franchise of no relegation / promotion that will kill English football and start the breakaway European league, designed to protect the money men. Don’t think for one second this is about helping the EFL.
No, I don't interpret this proposal that way at all I think the current "Big Six" know that there's little or no fan appetite for a European Super League that imitates the NFL The current EPL is too big and the season too long (even without COVID-19) IMO, the season shouldn't start before September, include a late January break, and finish on the May-Day holiday weekend. I don't want to see EPL teams playing twice a week so let's cut the EPL and scrap the worthless EFL cup (the Community Shield is also a relic of the past and needs to be scrapped).
Yep the top 6 teams do play in Europe and by he'll they certainly know how to complain about the number of games they have to play Never mind the I it's fair to say we all want Leeds to play in Europe eventually assuming of course that the number of teams is not reduced to such an extent that it precludes us and also bearing in mind we have only just got to the promised land only to find it may not run with milk and honey.
Why do you say that ? Do you oppose cutting the EPL because you fear that Leeds would be unable to find a seat at the top table ?
They are on about it next season, we probably will be cutting right back on transfer money with the ground extension being on the cards, will Bielsa still be here ? We're not an established team yet.
An 18 team EPL is about right (though you could make a case for 16). Imagine a season without the worthless EFL cup and only 34 league games IMO, that is mar better than the meat grinder of a league we just escaped from Player will play significantly less gamers and thus be fitter and fresher for the ones they do play. Quality, IMO, is bound to be raised.
Now that's better lets get to the Heart of the matter too much money at the top of the English game most of it coming from the likes of Sky/BT
IMO, if we qualify for Europe (even the Europa League) then Bielsa will stay Even if he doesn't, I think Leeds have a great footballing model to see them well in years to come Why shouldn't Leeds aspire to be amongst the elite rather than be in almost mortal fear of returning to the EFL ?
Just imagine we reduce to 16 clubs the powers that be will want to replace with something more internationals and even worse more international friendlies anyone.
Don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't aspire to play in Europe I too think that Bielsa would stay if we got there
You can't make too much money in business How you spend it, is what counts Develop Elland Road and create a better Academy...I've often thought Leeds should buy a private school and turn it into an institute of sport for 11-18 year olds If you don't know, I emigrated to Georgia, USA in 2001, and there's a new football team here playing at the $1 billion Mercedes-Benz stadium, and it is out-of-this-world fabulous. The team often gets 80k plus attendances and I was there when it got a record 86,000 crowd and the atmosphere was nothing short of astounding.
And hurrah for that - because it's a good thing How much better would Bielsa's team perform with 8 less games on top of that ?
No, it means EPL teams have more recuperation time...it doesn't mean other European leagues would be smaller and UEFA would have no more international weeks, like the one we're currently in.
Champions League, 100% definitely Europa League , probably. Who doesn't want Juventus to return to Elland Road. I was there when we beat then on away goals the win the Inter-City Fairs Cup.
