It's not just chairman though (reckon 98% operate with one) No head of academy. 2 senior positions in the recruitment department. In terms of directors, Donald is absent, Sartori has never been active, and Methven stood down. Sloanes and Jones are non exec, so we only have Lownes on a day to day basis. Which other company would or could operate like that in a medium to long term?
I dont really agree with that, the recruitment structure was top heavy with jobs for the boys and failed miserably...time will tell with what seems to be Dave Jones taking the lead now to help the scouts and identify targets, Jim Rodwell runs the club now day to day......I would say we need someone to replace Tony Davison but hopefully a new owner will get someone into that position
Something is happening. Everybody knows but won’t report it. The NE journos would be asking questions about new chairman / academy head etc. They’d also be asking for updates on how Donald is getting on with selling the club, seeing he’s publicly said he’s trying to but hasn’t updated in a long time. The fact they’re not asking these questions tells me they know the answers already but can’t / won’t report them.
I like what Dave Jones is doing, but really it's a full time job and he's got one with sky already. Can't see that being him long term.
tbf surely his job at Sky is hardly full time. Sunday’s and Monday’s on the air and a couple of days prep from home (if that). your point is right though. I reckon there’s scope for him to have a couple days a week for the club. It’s made loads more difficult by the location but you’d think in this day and age that shouldn’t be an issue. I’d imagine he’ll be on calls / emails for Sunderland close to 7 days per week at the moment.
Yeah, and that can't be sustainable for the long term. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy and what's he's done so far, but is a sky sports presenter the right person to be head of recruitment?
you’re right. But I don’t think he needs to be head of recruitment to have that level of impact. If he can be the person to get the right people involved and set up the frameworks to work to, then oversee it from afar, it could work well.
To be fair, as far as the running of the football club is concerned, Bob is a walking encyclopaedia ... ... unfortunately he's also a talking encyclopaedia
Yeah, and like I say, I like what he's done so far. But is him being head of recruitment, a non executive director and a sky sports presenter realistic and sustainable, long term?
It proves one thing, he has a clue what is needed at the Club unlike the Chancer In Chief and his side kicks
Tony Davison did the commercial side didn't he? That video for the Foundation with Dave Jones and Tom Sloanes, I think Tom Sloanes said he was involved with the commercial stuff now.
Being bankrupt doesn’t mean you’re skint though. I know a few people who filed for bankruptcy and they’re worth a lot of money. They filed for it due to business reasons.
