There's been clues since they withdrew and right now I think it's glaringly obvious it's still very much on the cards. How many signs can people ignore? Reminds me of the fakeover brigade dismissing everything until it was punching them in the face.

Make no mistake their aim here isn’t about the number of clubs in the league, relegation or the league cup, that’s just a smoke screen. Their aim here is to leverage themselves into a position where they can dictate the future of the TV revenue. They’ve wanted for years to have a completely different split on how the money is divided and their ultimate goal is the opportunity to control their own TV rights. They’ll need 14 clubs to fall for this bollocks and I won’t accept mine forming part of it.
This. They want exclusivity over their own TV rights. Gives them carte blanche to charge what they want. Greed.
It’s not about the cost either mate, it’s about them having the largest global fanbases and them thinking they should have the lions share of the cake. It’d kill the league as a competition, as the disparity between the TV revenues of them and the rest would make it impossible for anyone but them to realistically compete. It’d create a Barca / Real situation where the lower ranked clubs are just cannon fodder. It’d kill the PL.
