While I was playing for them... did you go to the FA Cup win against Aldershot when they bought about 1,500 fans over?
I once played on Newport's (old) pitch - now a shopping centre. I was in my primary school team: 10 and 11 year olds, playing on a full-size pitch, with full-size goals. We won, 4-1, mostly by lobbing the ball about three feet above the opposition goalie.
I played on the old pitch and the new pitch against Newport and then for Newport on the new ground. I was also in the team for the historic, first ever Newport IOW v Newport (Wales) match.
You've walked into my trap. I thought I won't mention you playing for Newport...I'd just wait for you. Yes, I went to most matches and an occasional away one at that time, being a season ticket holder. Work meant I couldn't do both Saints and Newport, so sadly dropped the local team. They went downhill after I stopped going....shows how important my support was.
Although Southgate was obviously looking for performances from the players...was this virtually the B side, perhaps suggesting they may not play on Sunday?
Yup. What a pair! I remember when an announcer struggled to say Earshal Fearon (sp?) and awarded the goal to Mr Fearon.
Next you'll tell us about your debut for Fareham Town 27 years ago this week *Google is an amazing thing
Just reading in the Sunday Times, that Southgate says part of the reason he’s forced to play the system he does, is a lack of depth at left back. Umm....
I’m sure Fats could turn out at left back if pushed - after all, he’s probably not got that turn of speed for a striker anymore
Bertie should absolutely be given another chance, his form this year has been the best in a Saints shirt and he is a key player for us as KWP is on the other side.
I was just reading about Grealish being as good as Gazza. I had to watch some old videos of Gazza, and nope, nowhere near. Southgate was correct saying no one better, watching the old videos of him and you realise just how great he was. Such a shame all the stuff that affected/s him over the years.
