5 goals in 7 games and 3 of them were against wolves. I'm hoping this gets sorted soon otherwise we could find ourselves in big trouble.
I think dj should start against Blackburn. bothroyd isn't the player I thought he'd be. yes he gets into good positions and works hard but he hasn't scored and that's what strikers do.

I keep thinking that one goal and he will come good, but that's what I thought about Hulse last season!

    Im split on Bothroyd.

His hold up and build up play are excellent however his finishing is cack. Which is probably why Cardiff played him wide. So by playing Campbell instead we'd have the finishing but holding up the ball and allowing others to attack with him wouldnt happen.

Really we need to play to up top but dont know how we'd do it. Maybe play DJ up top and Bothroyd more CF behind him, almost CAM Then take out Derry or Faurlin to allow Barton to drop a bit meaning we'd have the hold up play and finishing up top........ah I dont know.

Bothroyd seems to have his good points; but if you check out his stats one thing becomes crystal: deadly at Championship level, struggles in the Prem. Sadly these are the "facts".

@husky right, whereas dj has scored in the prem albeit for only 1 season it's more experience than our other forwards.

Perhaps an alternative could be that Bothroyd plays off the left/right with SWP/TABBY on the opposite flank with Campbell up top, at least at home. Might take some of the pressure off him. He definitely needs a goal for his own sake (as well as the team's), but I'm struggling too see him getting 10 goals, or even 5

Agreed, he has experience and brings others into the game better than Bothroyd. Partner him with DJ for the Blackburn game, they're there for the taking...

Have said in a past post and say again this number 9 and 10 at present must be the worst front two in many a year, Bothy champ player and always will be DJ one season wonder in prem, these two could not tie the boots to any of the class 9 and 10s of the past.

    ****ING 4-4-2!!!!
This line up is supposed to protect the back 4,yeah right,we need to play 4-4-2 now,at least we might score the goals that put other teams under pressure, especially at home.Helguson and DJ up top!

Guys, unless HH has improved a hell of a lot, he's not your answer. I think Bothroyd as hold up man with Cambpell running on is much better.

4-5-1 with Bothroyd on his own will aggravate opponents, but not score enough -- that's how we used to play Zamora, before we found out how to make real use of him

Can't be any worse. But the words Cow's Arse and Banjo spring to mind.

it's clearn you need a striker, maybe give Bothroyd and Campbell a chance together, at least at home? Bothroyd looks lost by himself and Campbell needs support as well. I guess it would have to be at the expensive of Faurlin with SWP Taraabt on the side and Barton and Derry in the middle.

Campbell is the best striker in our squad.

I think that, although they're playing some good football at times, they're lacking confidence and it really shows, in defence and up front.

In defence, which was evident today, they were timid and not confident enough to go up to players and whack them one. Ok, I don't mean that literally but teams are going to make a joke out of you if you back off and give them loads of space. You've got to get stuck in!!!

Maybe the same can be said about our attacking players at the moment. They're just not going at it, forcing their way through and putting their pedal to the floor. They're obviously a talented bunch but they need to go out and give it the all rather than going out and being afraid of what might possibly go wrong.

Hopefully this game will have told them that doing so is the only option as you can't play it safe in this league.

And I agree that we should try DJ, as much as I like Bothroyd.

Dont see why we have to have a 'big hold it up' type centre forward . Not all teams play with one ,just take a look at Barcelona . I feel we need to develop a much better defensive game as a whole . This is not critisizing our defenders but our overall tactics . We look like being beaten the moment the opposition score the first goal ,and the opposite if we score first . The problem is Bothroyd is not taking his chances and therefore the opposition score first . We then have no plan b to get back in the game . My plan for this season would be to play defensively with DJ taking our chances on the break .

Warnock has already stated that we will play attacking football as there is no point in defending and getting beaten. Today we got beaten... and beaten some more...

Guys, we are all passionate about our club, thats obvious. However, we did not become world beaters when we beat wolves 0-3 and we are not the worst team in the Prem by loosing to Fulham. The reaction on this board to our victories and losses is way over the top. Our squad on day one of the Prem was very poor. We have added a nice bit of quality in recent weeks but remeber that all the players we got were players with lots to prove and most were not wanted by other clubs for various reasons. Our first team now is decent, not brilliant, not top ten, but decent. We have a chance of staying up, but we need another 3-4 Prem players in Jan in order to do so. NW agreed to sign some of the problem children we now have. It is his job now to sort out any problems that may exist. I for one will be interested to see how he does this. I am a NW fan but as i have said (to deaf ears) several times in recent weeks our survival depends on him getting his tactics right week in and week out. Until he proves at this level that he can change our system to suit the opposition strengths and weaknesses the jury is out for me. The same formation will not work week in and week out. Other managers have a brain and will easily work us out. This result shows how clinical the Prem is and if you dont take your chances, the opposition will. Jay deserves our support and confidence up to a point. That point is coming closer. NW will have to look to DJ, Mackie, HH or others on loan to score the goals to keep us up. No goals will mean no survival. Please take a more rounded view of our results. We will get hammered from time to time. That always happens newly promoted teams several times in their first season. Keep your posts realistic and we wont all work ourselves into a frenzy every weekend. We need 20Pts by 25 Dec. We are still on track.
