We where just out performed all through the team, Fleetwood played probably as well as they will all season and we played probably and hopefully as bad as we will all season. Josh doing the ugly stuff with the quicker players either side would have been a much better way to play tonight and if eves hadn't have had his set back then that's possibly how we would have played... Rochdale will be a very telling game
Spot on, all that matters is how we respond to this defeat, no one goes the season unbeaten and everyone has a shocker now and again. I still think we have the squad to have a decent season, I'm not sure that will be achieved with this manager though.
KLP goal stands we probably win the game.... it didn't , we didn't.... too many square pegs and round holes tonight....
Loving the overreaction from our fan base. Im pretty sure GLP was mocking Grant for playing Wilks on the wing and said he should deffo play upfront. Well he did tonight and was awful. Just a bad night at the office, in these ****housery games we miss Smallwood and Magennis badly. Not playing Alfie was a mistake tonight but understood why Batty kept his place. Fleetwood played well, deserved the win, not sure it was a 4 1 game, but we went **** or bust at 2 1 and well it went bust. Mentioned my concerns over the bench before and think it was obvious tonight. Missing Magennis, Wilks and Scott has made up very light up top. Apart from his assist against Crewe Mayer hasn't done much. If Scott's out for any period of time we need some cover.
Liverpool shipped 7 last weekend, Manure 6 but they'll still be in the mix come season end with the same players. We've had a bad day, move on, Rochdale next week. I do worry a bit about JDW though...
Defeat had to to come but letting four goals in is very disappointing. Defensively we made a number of mistakes, left wing worrying. Lack of aggression is concerning. 12 points from 15 is a better start than many of us would have thought. Missed the captain and mcguiness hold up play Overall stick by the lads, I was hoping the squad was good enough, I still think it's not far off but have said it before I would like to see a bit more experience brought in who know how to handle a battle.
From those saying Dan Batty deserved to keep his place, can I ask what they think he brings to the side? He's not an attacking midfielder, he's not a defensive midfielder because he does win enough duels and he's not got much in the way of guile and trickery, so why is he keeping his place when we've got this lad from Sheffield United?
If he wasn't a hull boy, he wouldn't get nearly as much backing on here imo. I don't think we will see him start again next week and nor should he
He isn't a Hull boy, he came from Leeds. So he hasn't even got that going for him. He isn't a bad player, I just don't think he's the sort of player we need going up against the likes of Rochdale, Gillingham and Fleetwood.
Midfield should have be: Honeyman/A Jones/Docherty or Honeyman/Smallwood/Docherty (when Smallwood is fit)
Sorry my mistake, I always thought he was a local boy that came through the youth set up Edit....Came to us at 15/16 and from Pontefract.
I just think he’s another victim of 4-3-3. As Grant likes one of the midfield 3 to be a number 10 we always seem over run in the midfield. I don’t mind Batty as a player. I just don’t think we have the right players around him for him to be effective.
One more thing let's not get to down with a defeat or to up with four wins, Give it 10 games and see where we are. Of course tonight's defeat was disappointing but it brings everyone down to earth and makes you realise it's going to be difficult. Stick by the team and hopefully we will bounce back.
It’s the manner of the defeat. A lot of similarities with the back end of last season, albeit this season is against poorer opposition.
This my major concern. I have lost count of the amount of times we have been hammered under this coach.
