Either the takeover fell through or it was made up, it can't be both. If it fell through, which is what I believe happened, then that's tough luck for us but it doesn't mean the whole thing was a, in my opinion, pointless swindle.
Now here's a hypothesis that proves I watch too much Elementary on Sky! What if Chris Wetherspoon is Donald's plant? Maybe he did call Donald out at the start but what if they actually spoke about this and sorted it all out? I've been reading the RAWA notes from the meeting on the 16th July and from them all of a sudden Donald called him out telling him to get his facts right? Why at that particular moment? Then straight after the meeting, Nick Barnes has an interview with Donald and then announces that the club is up for sale and people react saying that Donald must have told him. Now Chris Wetherspoon since then has stated on social media that there's no takeover! Long winded I know and probably full of crap but there ya go!
Indeed - Chris has tied himself in knots a bit over this. He has on more than one occasion said that there was definitely a takeover happening last summer but Donald messed it up. Now he's claiming Donald was making it all up as a diversion... EDIT - Chris has made his original tweet clear to me now and he wasn't saying the last takeover last summer was made up - just that they used a diversion tactic when it fell through
Keep the faith lads. Just spoke to Chris via DM on twitter and he's not saying last year's takeover was a sham - just that it was blown last minute and that the announcement of the sacking of Jack Ross diverted attention and took the heat off. Which does make sense. So I retract my last post about tying himself up in knots, I read too much into his tweet.
"A takeover will happen eventually". I saw that phrase from a poster, in the last couple of days, but can't search RTG. I can't remember who used the phrase but I can guess ...
I can understand why as he's been called out publicly by Stewart Donald and taken a tonne of crap for it. I know a lot of people get stick on social media but having the club owner name him ain't nice.
I don’t think Ross was sacked to distract people from the failed takeover, I think it was Donald ****ting himself. Ross looked shot at that point and he thought getting rid of him and bringing in a manager with this league experience would give him a chance of the promotion he was hoping for to flip a profit.
Hmm, not sure.. we made the play off and a cup final...so not bad for Ross For me the pivotal point was bringing in Grigg and losing Maja... the rumour being Ross wanted to tie down Maja a lot earlier than Donald allowed and he did not want Grigg, who was very much a Donald project. Also imho Ross handled our infant terrible, Mcgeady, better than any other manager since.
I honestly think the big mistake was made earlier, not tying down Maja & Asoro down, along with others before they entered their last year when their potential was there for everyone to see. I honestly don’t think Ross’ heart was in it, ‘allegedly’ he tried to resign after the playoffs, and Parkinson said it was noticeable how unfit the squad was.
