Agree with most, but 3 things I disagree with marra, but each to their own. Need rid off the chancers as soon as.
Pretty much nailed it there, mate. I think his problems have been making mistake after mistake for at least a year and a half, compounding each previous mistake each time. I think some things he's been unlucky with and ended up reaping problems that originally started years before he got involved, but his actions only made things worse. The Maja situation is an example, he should have been tied down before Madrox took over, but his handling of it made it worse. He undermined the manager by saying anyone who wouldn't sign an extension should be dropped while Ross still wanted him to play, he sold him but didn't negotiate a loan back for the rest of the season, bought a different type of striker that the manager didn't want and didn't fit in with how we played after being held over a barrel by Wigan and paying nearly 3 times as much for him as he was probably worth. If Grigg had scored goals and got us promoted it wouldn't look so bad, but the fact he's failed to do that has just made it worse. Keeping Maja and getting promoted with him and losing him for buttons at the end of the season may have seen some heavy stick dished out to him, but with hindsight it would have been better than what's happened and better handling of it at different points could easily see a better position for both the club and Donald than now
Just wanted to add.. Maja wanted out, if we'd not got rid of him who is to say he wont have spat his dummy out and downed tools Stid2 showed him to be playing us. Short memories.
True mate, but selling him with a lone back for the rest of the season might have been a better option. And the money spent on Grigg could have been used to bring in a younger, pacier striker to develop on as a back up. Or trying to arrange a replacement before he it broke out the way it did so we weren't held over a barrel for a deal. But as I say, it just seemed to be mistakes compounding mistakes.
'Nothing' isn't what's happening. Something is happening despite the wishes of people who, for whatever strange reason, insist it isn't.
I think we as fans were prepared to let that one slide and put it down to either greed or naivety, or both, then wembley came twice and then Parkinson, then the season cards, that meeting and the refund process, he’s just a Cnut completely out of his depth and he and salmon pant thought that the people of Sunderland were gullible and they were so wrong
Hindsight....I remember most fans were delighted when we went for Grigg. As the best option out there with proven track record tho.
The biggest mistake was under Bain but the arrogance of negotiation team ballsed the likelihood of a deal up big time. It’s there for the world to see.
...Ross had told Donald that he was only worth 1.25m or so and there were better options out there...
Bain was under Short, Short had stopped funding the club for the past two seasons and the reason why Maja slipped through our fingers
