I don't think we'll see a major update of stadiums and face scans until the PS5/New XBOX has been released, sadly.
Aye same, baffling that they’d done Bruno Fernandes though and not Greenwood. They haven’t even done Sociedad stadium that was rebuilt 18 months ago, just left it as the old stadium which looks ridiculous. I think the next gen will be spectacular but then it’s EA so probs take them 3 year to even use the capability of the machines.
Aye that's true. Was a fair few year before they added The Stadium of Light to the game for the current gen of consoles. Although, admittedly I was more intrigued to play at Turf Moor...
Ayr the old style stadiums look way better I think, just cos they are all unique. Inside all new stadiums are more or less identical. Places like Villa Park and Bramall Lane that are past best in real life look class on the game.
Yeah, you're right. It gives it that more (for lack of a better word) "authentic" feel to it. Proper love going to Selhurst on the game for some reason. Don't like managing Palace or playing as them but love playing at their ground.
Aye totally get it, QPR stadium is class on it as well. Portsmouth is on there as well, randomly. Not been in PL since they licensed so I assume a Pompey fan works for EA.
I agree, Computers are a learning tool. Game consoles are a different beast. Like yourself, I myself after a long 2x10 shift do enjoy an hour or so on GTA,FIFA etc, helps me unwind. Escapism is escapism and it comes in many forms, some fish, some read, some work on their cars, some garden and some game. However, the gaming is one folk do seem to have a dig at for some reason. I personally think gardening isn't something I could get into but I wouldn't bash anyone that did.
Exactly mate, the ability to wind down and switch off is essential. How you get there and what you do is anyone’s choice. I can’t personally ever see a day when I don’t do a bit gaming, my 60 year old uncle is still a pure COD fiend
It gives you experiences that you can't get anywhere else too. I was always fascinated by the stories of Ancient Greece as a kid and in Assassins Creed Odyssey I've got a faithful recreation of a huge chunk of Greece to explore. If there's another way I can wander around Athens and Olympia in their prime in 422 BC, discuss philosophy with Sokrates and give advice to a young Plato I'd like to hear it.
My current unwind game is no mans sky. Just released a new update and it’s much better now. Just mooching around the stars collecting **** is quite relaxing. still have to finish rdr2 and get that Spider-Man game and the last of us 2 before I move up to the ps5. not played FIFA in a few years as it was ****. I’m also pretty **** on PES as well.
Lol mate, theres blokes at my place that love a bit COD. One fella in his 50s a few year ago was buzzing because he thought he had seen the box for a PS4 in the wardrobe thinking their lass had bought him it for Christmas. Turns out it was for the grandson, he was gutted. lol Like you, I enjoy a bit gaming amongst other things.
Absolutely spot on mate. Platforms are getting bigger and bigger so escapism is getting easier. With what's going on in the world I don't see the harm in firing up a console, and like you say, mooch about Greece. I myself enjoy GTA V, hoy the 80s radio station and have a virtual drive up the north on the outer ring roads. However, I'm also reading through a book called "the observer book or genius", my point is that just because folk game, they're not one dimensional.
You could become an archaeologist, dig up their ****, and then spend months minutely analysing it in order to recreate what their lives were like. Nah, your way sounds better. I've not played Assassin's Creed Odyssey but might have to for the reasons you highlight. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm 40. I suffer from extreme anxiety. Im at my most carefree and relaxed whilst on my X-Box. Does more for me than any medication. I'm of a generation when we were younger we played on our Commadore 64's, then Amigas, then Megadrives, then Playstations. We have getting great enjoyment out of playing them. Rather like those supporting a football club. The passion from football is generated as a kid, and for a lot of those kids it carries on through to adult life. Whether its football or computer games, for those who have never been sucked into it from an early age I could fully understand them questioning the absurdity of fully grown adults still getting enjoyment from such 'childish' things.
Yeah they certainly aren't the be all and end all just another way to enjoy yourself that's all. I've played a lot of GTAV myself, there's a lot to do. The photo mode helped get me into photography in real life and I ended up with my own YouTube channel making stunt videos, just for my own entertainment but I learned a bit about video editing doing it.
It is quite an amazing recreation, I don't know how long it took them to make but it really is a labour of love. As a historian I'm sure you'd get a lot of enjoyment from it, plus the novelty of spending (lots of) time debating with Sokrates and taking the piss out of Hippokrates' bald head is really something. It's well done.
Sounds like ****ing perfection to me! Anyone who does what I do and then says they wouldn't want to play a game like that is lying.
Spot on, it's a generational thing. Megadrive was like nothing ever seen and when the Playstation came out, mind blown. I've spent teenagers summers at a mates house watching a 1 player Tombrader, having a laugh, helping spot stuff in the game that have now become the good old days. We still went out but now and then it would end up an all day thing. Ps, me and the same mate loved watching Bottom.... Mr 55p, class way to spend a Friday night watching BBC2. Hope your Anxiety is as well as it can be mate
