Of course she should resign but unfortunately the precedent was set by Cummings that it's perfectly acceptable to break rules, hence people up and down the country, breaking them daily. I for one must be well into double figures for law breaking this week alone.
As long as other SNP politicians insist she did nothing wrong despite all evidence to the contrary and Sturgeon in a week or so says “we believe the matter has been dealt with” then it’s fine.
She should have really come up with a truly believable story regarding testing her eyesight or something.
Once again Cummings was a tw2t but wasn't diagnosed with Covid and basically kept away from people whereas the SNP MP was confirmed with a positive test decided to take tubes/trans/streets and parliament to try and infect as many people as she could. I doubt even Cummins would have done that. But anyway I am sure a few activists on here wouldn't agree.
You dont have to be an activist to agree or disagree with rules mate. One can certainly be a hypocrite though.
I agree and all three were wrong. It's just sometimes people go that extra step and in the case of the SNP MP I think it was irresponsible to do what she did. There was me moaning about Jezza yesterday when his actions were nothing compared to her.
And infact nothing compared to Cummings actions either BUT they are all in positions of responsibility and in my opinion, they should all have resigned or been sacked.
No one resigns any more though. Another precedent set by this government I’d argue when you give someone like Priti Patel one of the most senior gigs in the country you’re setting a ridiculously high bar for what merits being dismissed. You’d like other parties to set a better example but I can understand why they don’t.
Just imagine if these people had been sacked for their misdemeanors. Would that have sent a pure and concise message out to the public regarding rules/restrictions/laws?
I have said it many times before, we are constantly set examples as a society by those who rule over us. From lying, corruption, greed, different rules for different classes etc etc. Let's not act too surprised when society starts to do the same.
It's always been the way. Throughout political history, there have been scandals and idiots that have kept jobs when they should have been sacked. I said at the time Cummins should have stepped down (and he would have come back in another position at a later date) rather than come out with that BS excuse. I was embarrassed when I listened to him. Thinking back I did say that he was instrumental to future Tory/Brexit plans... and I think now he was.
Nicola Sturgeon @NicolaSturgeon I’ve spoken to Margaret Ferrier and made clear my view that she should step down as an MP. I did so with a heavy heart - she is a friend & colleague - but her actions were dangerous & indefensible. I have no power to force an MP to resign but I hope she will do the right thing.
Follow Darren Grimes @darrengrimes_ I'm not one to defend local Labour parties, but it's frankly ridiculous to accuse them of homophobia for deciding that men shagging in a public park, with families present, probably isn't on. The replies tickled me. Follow Peter Tatchell @PeterTatchell Instead of liaising with local LGBT+ community, @SouthwarkLabour has got a COURT INJUNCTION to stop gay men cruising in #BurgessPark AND are committing eco vandalism by cutting down bushes, to INCREASE the likelihood that members of the public will see sex acts!
