I think if we get one, it'll be a loan once all the prem/champ clubs finish their business, we have another 2 weeks to do that don't we?
I'm not sure we will sign a striker. Plenty of goals at this level in our forward line. Service through the middle is the issue, and getting close support around the central striker, as opposed to the individual ability of our front man in league 1. Quality at championship level might have been a problem last season but not L1 with the boys we have on board. If we do trade it will be likely from the domestic leagues anyway.
I have the feeling Terry said we may not be finished yet, as he is keeping his options open should we sell someone and need to bring in a replacement, If no first team squad members go out I think it is unlikely we will buy or loan anyone else.
I think we should be ok RE outgoings now. People would still be gunshy on our boys after the way they finished last season and (hopefully) aren't buying into the performances at a lower level. Especially now that internationals have shut I presume JDW can't go to the MLS or anything like that. More likely we're being cautious in case of injuries.
I get what you're saying TigersCanada ,but the fact remains that at the time, we were in the old 3'rd division.Of course there were anomalies like Mclintock and Law and probably several others changing hands for large sums of money, but the cash forked out for Wagstaff&Co at the time were huge by comparison to the size of our Club. Transfer fees kicked on a bit heading the end of the 60's/early 70's(Martin Peters for example £200,000 in 1970) was considered a huge fee and when you consider that 10 years after we paid £40k for Waggy we got £200k for one of the best strikers in the Country at the time(Stuart Pearson),it points to the fact that the money forked out in 1964 for Wagstaff was huge.
Why? He's a **** of the highest order. You can use a full stop, us oldies are made of sterner stuff than the younger lot.
You could say that in modern terms the 3 of them cost £190 million as it was slightly over the cost of the world record transfer.
Wilks might be one we lose by the close of the domestic deadline day. Hope not but he is Championship standard.
