He'd been 3 times before mate. I dare say he knew more about it than you or me and thought it was worth taking the risk. Anyway, it was just a remembrance of a decent bloke trying to do some good in the world.
Not denying he had his heart in the right place but a lawless country run amok with ISIS freedom fighters, was no place for a taxi driver giving out cornflakes. I have friends who work out there, ex special forces and trust me these guys are nutters, you have to be a special kind of ****ed up to go places like that and not end up kebab.
I've got a couple of mates who do similar. Basically private armed guards, working on freight ships in Somalia. Bodyguards for businessmen / politicians in places like Kabul and Jalalabad. It's danger money, but they go in prepared. Then they come home and surf with me, and I'm like what you been up to bro ? 'Shot some Pirate in the face in Mogadishu bro' 'Ah okay... I been riding my bike and teaching my daughter her 8x table....'
Just been reading the latest school book with my boy and was very impressed. Apparently he's reading at an age 2 years older than what he is. Very proud, especially considering he missed a big chunk of year R.
Brilliant to hear that mate. Nothing quite like hearing your child read to you eh ? One of life's special moments.
Yeah normally I get them when he's already read it a few times so he's reading a lot from memory, but this was a brand new book for him so good to see him do it fresh. He does get cocky and rush through trying to guess words instead of reading sometimes though lol.
Yeah don't worry about that though mate, that's just him being confident. Also, we eventually learn to read by simply recognising the letters and words in front of us, rather than phonetically reading them out in our head. So him guessing the words is just part of the process of learning. Lovely to hear he's making great progress with it all mate
Yeah I remember seeing somewhere that adults generally only look at the first and last letter. Or something like that anyway.
Not much mate. Mind i'm banging in the OT. So basically knackered by the time i get home. Todays been my only day off since last Monday. Slept most of it,
Starting to look for a first car for my son Any suggestions on what to get? Should I just go for low insurance as my primary goal?
Kia, Hyundai can get high mileage on both and they'll still run forever. Insurance will be about £1000, might get a reduction for having one of those tracking boxes.
