Ryan is only 30 yrs old. Get him on a free, reasonable wages, could get 4-5 yrs out of him We need experienced CD's in this league
I would rather use our youth conveyor belt than bring anyone new in . Famewo is next in line , we also have Bushiri out on loan that may be good enough next season . I would prioritise a decent right back and possibly a keeper .
Our current CB's, Zimm, Hanley and Gibson are 27, 28 and 27. Do we need an older player or invest in a faster, younger, not youth, player to develop. Bennett is now 30 and I guess he has not got faster since he left us.
Virgil van Dijk is 29. You can't get better than Virgil. You don't play against extreme pace in this league. Experience is what you need
Even if they do have a relegation clause, after Naismith I certainly hope so at £25 k or half salary there won't be many lining up to take Drmic off our hands . Hugill can barely get any minutes and we are already out of the League Cup so we look to be lumbered with the most expensive U23 player for this season possibly next . He would probably be quite good at this level , I'm guessing a loan deal where we pay some of his wages would be the only option to offload .
Ronaldo is 35 and still pretty good , I wouldn't particularly want to sign a 35 year old striker either .
Why not ? Knows the club, has experience and is (atm) fit. If Klose goes our CB options are Gibson, Zimbo and a half fit Hoadley. I definitely think we need experienced back-up and Ryben would fit that bill.
That does not apply to Switzerland (Klose could be returning to Basel and Drmic is Swiss) or other countries like Turkey I think (where Trybull has been linked). We now have 23 players who count in the 25 squad limit (over 21). That drops to 22 if Klose leaves. Will we sign new players at CB and LB to fill the gaps? I hope so, but it may depend on Drmic, Leitner and Trybull leaving first.
You are correct about Switzerland Rick, my apologies; their window closes on 12th October. Turkey, on the other hand, is in line with the likes of Germany, closing today. (FIFA has a complete list of dates for every FIFA member country.)
