We aren't trying to stop it, just trying to keep it under control, they don't want to shut the economy again.
Real numbers in April were thought to be 100.000 a day, we are now 8,000-10,000 with quarter of a million tests a day.
So a lot more people had it than they thought. These figures are a shot across the bows of the conspiracy theories. Just shows how much of a pandemic it has become. The death stats for India are laughable to the extreme. over six million recorded cases yet a little over a hundred thousand dead. They get sent home to be looked after by family and not hospitalised. The local doctor get to fill in the cause of death hence the big disparity in cases to deaths. Also India has ramped up it's testing big style. So a lot more are being detected with a lot less false positives.
There up to eighty thousand students in Leeds. So my message is stay away from them and let them infect each other. 750 have it at Durham uni alone.
We need shut all the schools and universities, bullshit it doesn't spread in schools, 4 schools got it around my way in last week or so.
I don't know what the right thing to do is Chesh. From a personal point of view I'm not sure how we'd manage to do the homeschooling thing again for 6 months and manage to keep our jobs. I was working 7 days a week on about 4 hours kip a night for a few months there as well as homeschooling 4 hours a day. I was at breaking point numerous times. I'm sure we'd just manage to get through it again. Before they shut the schools I'd rather they shut the pubs and restaurants. Universities seem to be a mess. Like I say Chesh, I just don't know what's for the best.
Shut the pubs yes, don't think they should close restaurants, not heard of any restaurants around here where people have caught it, don't know about where you are, but probably 80% of case's seemed to be linked to schools here, seems to be spreading that fast in school, if my lad had still been at school, I'm not sure I would want to send him.
Just a personal opinion University’s should not have gone back until they had full testing in place we have 3 cases in the family all stemming from Liverpool university and believe me it’s not funny One granddaughter managed to escape from Manchester university after being in isolation And further isolation at home before going for a pre-operation test today pending ankle operation on Wednesday let’s hope she is clear been waiting for this operation for well over a year She twisted her ankle in a riding accident 2 years ago stupid people at Harrogate hospital tried to treat here with physiotherapist Second opinion found Brocken bones in her foot which of course set incorrectly so poor kid has to have her ankle broken and reset By the way it’s not just some of the young ones who are not following the Covid advise but all age groups
Just to add to my previous rant Granddaughter who has been in self isolation for 3 weeks goes for test prior to operation and proves positive How bloody accurate are these tests how can someone in self isolation for 3 weeks pick up this virus
schools, where kids get it and give to parents, both low risk groups. Universities, young low risk groups. anyone would think the strategy was stealth herd immunity
Let everyone get it, and let nature take its course - what will be will be. We can't carry on like this ffs - people are dying because of delayed treatment for other illnesses. Let's just get on with life, and those who feel they must carry on shielding, well let them. If that means they're no longer able to work, that's their choice. Time to get back to normal.
So dead virus shows up on the test meaning whilst you prove positive you are not Even more confusion to add to the rest
What it doesn't show is how many people are proving positive because the tests are picking up dead virus cells Which makes a laughing stock of these figures and this is a known fact which the government are aware of but not doing anything about it
