Just thought I'd mention how impressed, I say how impressed I was with him yesterday.

Watched him closely all game. His distribution and ball control was very good, even though he played mostly with his back to goal.

Liked his close spinning round with the ball on his left foot, after dropping his shoulder, which seems t be his Galvinesque mantra to lose the attentions of a defender.

Still not 100% fit, obviously, so he will get even better. Looking forward to seeing how he does when Cam Stewart comes back later this month.

Me too, I think we should definitely buy this Kid, If the Allams Cough up in January.

He could be a City player in the Prem and an England Senior player.

Can't say I'm bothered about a players personality too much to be honest, I draw the line at the likes of Taarabt and Diouf but I don't mind someone like Rooney as long as they perform well. And we don't have anyone else really, it's a shame Darren Bent can't replicate his club form at international level.

Okay then on a more serious note - Rooney has proven on the big stage ie: World cup his arse collapsed and his back bone buckled, He's not on his own another one I never want to see in an England top is Terry who imo is one of the most overated players of the decade.

Capello should have been out, but there is no way Rooney can be dropped now, despite what happened in the last world cup, he is the best player we have. They should bin the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Terry instead, get Phil Jones and Smalling playing.

Johnson from Man City too, and that Oxlaide Chamberlain should be fast-tracked in.

Never rated him for England much though. Same with Gerrard. Both play well for their clubs but are far poorer at international level.

****ing is every time he pulls on an England shirt - he's crap and agree that with the likes of Terry and gerrard should be dropped.

Looking at the young english players we have coming through, Jones, Smalling, Cleverley, Welbeck, Wilshere, Sturridge, Gibbs, Chamberlain etc and the young players who have recently become first team regulars like Joe Hart then we have the foundations of having a good team, a team which hopefully won't be bombarded with this 'golden generation' bollocks.

It's not about how good or crap they are, the point is they don't produce for the national team cos they're paid mega bucks by their clubs. Priorities have changed and for the worst.

So either we bin the big earning stars, replacing them with hungry young talent or we keep being let down.

It's a shame but the way it's going, a thing called "national pride" is dying or dead.

This is why I'm dead against professionals in the olympics, it should be amateurs.

I see your point with money, footballers earn far too much (a la Tevez) but most of the top nations in the world have players earning ridiculous money with their clubs, i guess it comes down to how players apply themselves and the attitudes of the nation they represent.

Lampard should definitely be dropped, England have looked far worse with him in the side recently, though it's not really his fault. Chelsea play a system that allows him a free role, that system suits him and leads to plenty of goals, but England don't play that system and as a result, he just looks like a mediocre midfield player.

Rooney is one of the best players in the world, we might have not seen much evidence of it for England, but I suspect one day we will.

I'd also like to see Andy Johnson back in the England squad, I've always been a big fan.
