At some point the HMRC will have to justify the huge amount they've already spent on the NUFC case. Having had cases collapse against Tony Jimenez, Harry Redknapp, etc they're keen to recover their credibility and funds with NUFC. From what I've been told Ashley is refusing to allow further historical access for which he's being fined on a regular basis. The fines, as I'm told knowing zilch about HMRC, aren't huge but enough to be concerned about. The club is bound to have some pretty scary skeletons in the closet after some of the dodgy owners they've had.
'FPP' are in no rush tbh. They're being paid interest on a loan Donald claims he doesn't need and seeing him lose money every week. 'Yes Stewart, the cheque is definitely in the post, promise!'
His problem is with statements like 'Charlie Methven is my very good friend'. Having mixed with wealthy ex-public schoolboys, and others of that ilk, I can assure him he's not his mate and will be dropped like a rotten pear when Methven goes. They're all great actors but only ever act in their own interests. Methven initially engaged a few 'likely lads', a good friend of mine included, to put over the impression he was one of us. It worked for a very brief time and I was introduced to Methven as part of the process. The lad I know, who'd go out drinking with Methven and meet up pre-match, will no longer have anything to do with him. Bob has chosen another path but it looks like it's the garden path tbh, one which I think he'll regret.
Normal course for HMRC in these circumstances is to look at what they're intially looking for, then the six year period, then, providing they have grounds, they keep going backwards. I've been involved on a much smaller scale, a few times and it's not a pleasant process for the company involved. MA has the funds and wherewithal to frustrate the process which ultimately is all he can do.
Thats how I read it, I don't think he meant he was at his house, I think he meant he was welcome at his house.
He's known him from before he owned us I believe although I agree I know a few people exactly like what you've described, they often don't have any real friends just business mates who are both trying to exploit each other for one thing or another.
Yes I'm pretty sure when I read it (when somebody posted on here that he's having a meltdown) it said "he's at my house now". And then loads of people pointed out the law to him.
That's the truth from my experience mate. I recently did a thread asking who people would risk their life for and who they'd give their life for .... ... in their case I don't think it's either. People like Methven spend time with people they don't even like, holidays are just business meetings by the pool.
Yeah, that's what I've heard. He can fund the delaying tactics, but things are still creeping forward and each fine builds up more and more of a picture that there's something to hide. His hope is that it'll drag on so long that it becomes a drain and gets dropped. But by the same margin, the coronavirus hasn't helped his businesses empire and he might start feeling a pinch with some of his interests. To be honest, with some of stories I've heard over the years about Hall, Shepherd, Stan Seymour and so on, I doubt there's a few skeletons in the cupboard, more like a full cemetery!
I think he probably worded it wrong, he was rage posting at the time, due to his self inherited meltdown he was playing out.
Genuinely no idea. But there is no way SD can afford to hold on in my view and everything points to Glenn Furnmann eventually but that is just a guess.
How much of a rage would you have to be in to write that someone is at your house when they are nowhere near but happen to welcome if they dropped by?
From what I have heard, Methven has had a rough time of late. As I previously posted. Very much doubt he is very involved.
You’re exactly right re him having a difficult time although I’m lead to believe he is very much involved.
