I often do rudey, especially in this contest if I can't find enough races of interest. But I don't do very well in this contest, as can be seen
I've never been able to bring myself to do this type of bet - putting on 2 bets, knowing that before they race one is already a loser. If I have 2 equally fancied, I'd have to do them ew, or if short prices then rfc's
Each to their own Reebs. I would rather back 2 to win at full odds. However, if I was backing (as opposed to a comp) I would only back 2 horses to win if I thought the combined bet was good value. Eg If I really fancied an 11/10 shot but was a bit worried about just one other horse in the race at 5/1, I would have 10 points on the 11/10 and 2 points on the 5/1. If the 5/1 shot wins it has cost me nothing and if the 11/10 wins I make 9 points profit. Which is like backing a 4/3 on winner. If it looks overnight that the 11/10 shot will go odds on (eg some bookies already going 10/11 or Evs. Then I consider the 3/4 worth taking, given the cover on the 5/1 shot
I had 12-1 winner Mothassen in my all-in telly picks on DT but chose to leave him out when editing down for the comp
