I always have to look for a reason why we require revenge over another team. I remember being at Home Park and watching a certain Mr Windass fall over the ball in the penalty area about a yard from our goal and the ball hitting him on his trailing leg and going in for a one nil victory for them. That will do for me. We need to slaughter them for that. Think that was the season they went up and gave us the title of largest City with a football club not to have been in the top division. I could be wrong on that one.

    Anyway, go get em lads.

That is a very tenuous grudge Sensible although you clearly have a good memory.

We used to have a service engineer who twice a year had to spend a day up there on a job....and he dreaded the trip.....he felt that he never seemed to arrive and when he did he wondered why anyone ever bothered.....took him days to recover from the trip.

I've never been to Hull but I do remember that match. It was not one of the best spectacles that's for sure and the way Windass scored was even less exciting. He honestly did miss the ball and it did hit him on his trailing leg and go in from a couple of yards. I need something to give me the boo edge when I watch it which I will be doing tomorrow.

I don't know much about Hull and the north east generally is the one British region I've never been to.. I know it's a big port but the thing that always sticks in my mind is that it's the only place that has its own telecoms company, outside the GPO and then BT. It was originally municipally owned, later privatised, but still provides the infrastructure up there. Imagine a world without OpenReach........... heaven on earth. Make a note for Trivial Pursuits.

I decided to treat myself and sign into the ifollow for Hull v Argyle.....can't get beyond a message saying....." an error occurred please try again"....after twenty attempts...plus turning off and reloading again...no better result......no response from the reset button either....back to following it on the BBC then.

Seems to be OK here although the actual coverage hasn't started yet showing Quest TV at the moment.

Poor goal conceded by Argyle at 10 minutes, somewhat against the run of play.

Particularly in these tough away games the wing backs have GOT to get back to avoid the back 3 getting pulled from pillar to post.

Opoku is giving no more protection than Cooper.

We've shown we can bother them at the attacking end but they're finding too much space when they break forward on the flanks. Moore and Opoku have to track back better and quicker.

Much better in the 2nd half and probably deserved a point. We need to start much more securely especially away from home and play ourselves in. Too often we're losing the first goal and having to chase it. Easy to criticise the back 3 but they need better cover from the wing backs and midfield.

    Hull...1-0...Argyle...Adelakun,,,10 mins...F/T

Watched it in the end on ifollow.....Hull best team in the first half and Argyle only one down would have been pleased at H/T.....there goal looked rather too easy.

Argyle did better in the second half and with a bit more luck could have at least drawn....or even taken all the points....which would have been rather unfair....one moment in the second half the ball was pinging around their goal area like a pin ball machine...but no lucky break.

Hull personally didn't look that good and must be pleased to have won without conceding....there goalkeeper did have too many quiet periods....Argyle had difficulty playing it out from the back and reverted to hoofing it too many times.

Jerome Opoku started and was so so...and Ben Reeves subbed in the second half....both playing for the first time for Argyle.

I assume Aimson didn't start because of having to lose training time because of self-isolating....there does seem to be too many open spaces at present in our defence....but other than that they played okay......down to 13th in the table.

M Cooper, Watts, Canavan, Wootton, Moore, Camara, Opoku, Mayor, Grant, Hardie, Nouble.

    Subs
Ruddy, Aimson, G Cooper, Edwards, Fornah, Reeves, Telford.

Why is only one camera used....a bit one dimensional ?

Camera answer is it is only one they allow. Argyle have 4 I believe but are not allowed to use 3 of them.

I thought Hull were a very very good passing side who showed their class in the first 20 minutes. We did look as if we were in for a bit of a hiding for me but then sort of grew into the game without creating much. Opoku doesn't give anymore cover than Cooper and indeed just seems to stand around doing very little when he isn't directly involved. He's going to have to learn to chase around a bit more and put more effort in. Not that he played particularly badly may I add. Their first goal, and only goal, was very well taken and we were cut open far too easily. Didn't think they did that much after scoring though.

Second half and we were much better. Thought it was no worse than 50/50 for most of it and the bits that weren't we shaded. Even better when Cooper and Reeves came on. We created far more chances and were a bit unlucky not to score. Hull seemed to tire or we made them look tired one of the two. Here is a bit of a controversial opinion. People used to moan a lot about Wycombe and their tactics of wasting time. Well I thought Hull resorted to that and from very early on in the second half. There should have been 10 minutes extra time minimum never mind the 5 and the Ref let them get away with their time wasting without a word anywhere. It was blatant as well. Didn't think Opoku deserved a card either. What challenge can you make these days and you might as well cut out tackling altogether. His foot was on the floor, he won the ball and only his momentum took him into the player. Have to say was not despondent with this game though.

MOM.....not easy as there were several candidates but would just about give it to Kamara who tried and tried and did a load of work. Mostly very well.

I do rate Camara and his work rate is good...he was involved all over the pitch......Also Nouble put in a good shift and he shields the ball well from defenders and holds them off well.....Michael Cooper played well and looked confident in goal.
Mayor seems to need George Cooper to be at his best....Opoku I assume was tried to give a more defensive cover...didn't quite work out...George Cooper might not defend as well but it is his attacking and goal laying on for others that we need.

Thanks steverico and it's not hard to see why you are unbeaten. Think you might do the bounce this season assuming we finish it this time.

Well we had issues and went into freefall almost to extinction but are as good as we can be now. Seems half the lower leagues have issues of one sort or another with owners. Several more famous outfits thought they would bounce back but still find themselves playing the plebs. Think you might do it though. The standard of football is better than you would think in league one mostly. Most seem to try to play football these days which is refreshing. I noticed a few comments on your board saying a better team today in opposition would have scored a couple. Get used to that because obviously it isn't Championship standard and whilst there are probably better teams than us we aren't mugs either. This is the standard there is.
