For all Marcelo's genius we have to have low expectations today. There is a lot of hype around us at the moment but this will be the game that firmly brings us back to terra firma. Enjoy the game though, just don't over react to the inevitable defeat.
On another note bookmakers taking the piss out of Leeds fans again. We were 10/1 last weekend to beat City...and now into 6/1. Seems we're nearly twice as good in less than a week.
I thought they'd been playing Sterling at CF as Aguero & Jesus were out injured. If so, he'll be in KP territory then. So either he'll be diving when KP gets within 10 yards, or KP will toy with him like a cat who caught a mouse. It'll be worth a yellow to see if Sterling can actually fly. He certainly has his take-offs well practiced - usually several times a game when anyone comes close. Pretty sure KP will give him the extra lift he requires.
The 4 games I was most worried about this season was the two Liverpool games and the two City games. They play similar high tempo styles but man for man are far better than us. Yes we played ok against Liverpool but our efficiency in front of goal was excellent. If Liverpools efficiency matched ours that day they would have had at least a couple more goals. As for today, its probably the best time to face City. They have alot of players missing but they are also strong in depth. It gives us a good chance today but it's going to be a defeat more often than not. I'd take a draw now but in all honesty I just want us to be competitive and play well. Our passing in all 3 games so far has been hit and miss. I'd like to see it become more consistent and to not give it away cheaply as much. I'd also like to see the midfield work a bit harder, I suppose I'm talking about the Roberts position specifically. There were times against Sheffield and Fulham where they were just running at our backline in numbers and our midfield were 10 yards off. I'm quietly confident that if we play well today that we can get a result but I am expecting a City backlash after last weeks humiliation against Leicester.
I’m not expecting anything out of the game but then you never know Liverpool only just managed to scrape home As long as we can keep the respect going and make a good game of it Let’s be honest the Pundits would just love us to come unstuck To the pundits
Odds dropping likely to have something to do with city’s injuries. City mentioned it numerous times during and after the Leicester mauling
Either way Eire will be having a few relaxing pints later in Treacys west county in Clare while watching a thrilling game
Maybe, but aren't they supposed to alter the odds for City to win as well... 1/3 into 4/11 is not exactly making it a fair book...should be 1/2 but bookies want it both ways as they are tw**s.
The reason I usually don't drink when watching Leeds is the tension just maked me quaff ale like no tomorrow...pissed by HT and then spend the second half running to the ablutions. Enjoy your beers Eire
In the league 1 days we used to try and get a gallon down before kick off. Used to have to watch the game in the middle or with one eye closed! Just about sobering up before heading back in to town for a few more.
Loiners in Challenge cup semi on BBC 1 shortly. Think we'll get beat but if our big players turn up we could pinch it. If we win this game I would think we would be favourites in the final.
Might have been a bad idea Jammy. Haven’t drank in ages and first three have gone to my head. Will have to check in here probably in the morning to find out what happened
exactly how I see it. Though I’m not pointing the blame at Roberts. It’s how we play... whoever gives the ball away high up the pitch we’re in danger of getting over-run by premiership quality players in transition
