It’s laughable that he said ‘all of a sudden we have to think we are Liverpool do we?’ No Steve. We have to think we are Newcastle, playing half decent football in the PL. meanwhile Steve is content thinking we are the Mackems down in the depths of division 3.
He (Bruce) doth protest too much methinks. Which leads to the question has he lost a few players, whom are now seeing through his baffling tactics?
He's chosen a bad time.. Is he under pressure? If he'd waited until after a win it might have made more sense.. He's really asking for it now if the worst happens tonight... I think there's big problems behind the scenes personally.
I think he has lost the dressing room. I bet some of the players have compared things to Benitez and Bruce has taken the hump.
He's really lost me with these comments completely now.. I was always aware he was a crap manager, but the guy talks about newcastle like a makem or Richard keys would.. Reading the things he said at villa it made me realise he's incredibly arrogant... He might well be a nice old and he's only human, but these comments are really stupid of him.... If he gets a win tonight of course that's all that matters
In fairness you can't jump lump them all in the same camp. I'd rank them like this: 1) Allardyce - actually achieved impressive things at times. Not the dinosaur some suggest, he was well into the statistics and physiology of players and tactics ahead of most other managers. 2) Bruce - Overall has done 'ok' at mostly small to medium sized clubs. Not terrible but seemingly outdated. 3) Moyes - Hit early on in his career but miss now. There was a time as Everton manager he looked worthy of managing at the top, then he got the chance and clearly was not. 4) Hughes - Over-rated when he was doing well and under-rated when doing badly. He did a great job with Wales and laid the foundations to Man City doing very well (Kompany was an absolute success). 5) Souness - I've got nothing. Nada. Utterly terrible. All of them did better with smaller budgets and trying to get below par or cheap players to perform above themselves. Pretty much all of them failed when given good money to help a club push on to something bigger. It's why when people mock the likes of Pep or Jose for being "cheque-book managers" they clearly don't appreciate it's often what separates the bang average from the great.
