Perhaps. I'd have banned European competition for the season personally, but y'know, money. Don't see that it's that much more risky really when they're all tested. Footballers are living by different rules to the rest of the population anyway. Disagree that the chance of transfer during the match is limited though when you've got players shouting and spitting all over the place and coming into physical contact with each other.
I get that but the time of exposure is over 90 minutes and even then its limited within that time. Clubs team mates will be in close contact for prolonged periods every day.
Which ties in with my point that I edited in that footballers are living by different rules to everyone else at present. Otherwise half your squad would have to isolate now. Carrying on with football is a risk in itself, I don't see that internationals are much more so than domestic European competition, especially when you think of the money involved. Ultimately you're basing your view on the fact that you don't like international football, which is fair enough. But they're clearly not pointless when there's play offs for a tournament that has sold hundreds of thousands of tickets.
Wtf is the point of that? The league stays exactly the same unless some hsve games in hand...those running football are absolute ****ers
Just a personal opinion and not one that many would agree with, but although PPG is maybe the fairest way to sort this, I don't like that resolution. The problem with the system it takes your form at a particular point in time, but what it don't account for is transfers and loans, so teams could have paid out for the final run-in, seeing an improved form, but it will not overcome at that point in time what has been accrued. So take Oxford for example, never lost a single one of their last played five games. Nor did Fleetwood and even my own team, only lost one of their last five games, and had bought in players for the final run in. Whereas Wycombe who went up on PPG lost two of their last five games, and were on the verge of bottling it. Look at the Championship this season, Wycombe have played three, lost three, they are only saved by Sheffield Wednesday who had a 12 point deduction!
It also doesn't take into account the quality of teams played against or where. One team in First may have played the current bottom six at home and the other team in Second may have played the top six sides away. 5 points between them but the team in second has no chance with PPG.
@astro thinks liverpool should withdraw from this game having suffered 2 positive coronavirus tests and then forfeit the match because they cannot play it.
Would Mane need to isolate and not go on international duty? just getting back before the Derby? someone could say it’s a bit convenient.
Only a little tongue in cheek. Worrying how this can spread, how long before a team is down to bare bones.
I’m not sure players flying off to the four corners of the globe this coming week is likely to help like.
