Sorry to be a pedant but, strictly speaking, Constance Markevicz was the first woman MP. She was elected in 1918 for a Dublin seat while in Holloway prison and, like her fellow Sinn Féin MPs today, did not take her seat. Nancy Astor was the first woman MP to take her seat. 2-0 to City, of course.
