    Leeds Utd v Manchester City
    Saturday 3rd October 2020 17.30 | Elland Road

Leeds participate in their first 'War of the Roses' (league games) for 16 years as they entertain the blue side of Manchester for what promises to be an explosive affair, Saturday tea-time at Elland Road.

Still outraged from their 5-2 thumping against Leicester City, Citeh boss Pep Guardiola will be 100 percent focused on three points, even if it is against his old friend and mentor Marcelo Bielsa. To make matters worse Pep faces an injury crisis.

Aymeric Laporte, Gabriel Jesus, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Sergio Aguero are all ruled out whilst Ilkay Gundogan, Aleks Zinchenko and John Stones face late fitness tests.

Leeds will be without in-form winger Jack Harrison as Premier League rules state you can't play against your parent club in the top tier. However, if there were a war of the roses in the FA Cup, the 23yo would have been allowed as they have a different set of rules!

It remains to be seen whether Bielsa will risk Pablo Hernandez after the groin strain he picked up during the warm up against Fulham! Roberts, and record signing Rodrigo stand by for a recall. Perhaps new signing Michael Cuisance will be thrown in at the deep end?

There's also a selection dilemma at central defence. Cooper, Koch and Llorente! Who gives way and why?

What an absolute crying shame for those who could have gone that there will be no crowd. This is the sort of game that the 16 years pain was all about. A home game against a top side with a full Elland Road.

I think Bielsa will have the guile to cause his pupil a few problems the question then will be have the players the skill to get the result. 1-0 Leeds

I was at that game as a kid.

Batty scored in front of the kop. I was near the front. My brother picked me up as the crowd pushed forward to stop me from being squashed and I crowd surfed half way up the stand. Took me ages to find him again in a sea of legs.

City were missing seven regulars against Leicester. I wonder how many will still be missing. Hopefully all of them. Harrison will be a big loss to us. His crosses have been so important so far in the pl

Just reading match preview on BBC, some interesting stats

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54305847

    • The eight goals scored by Leeds equals the record for a promoted side after three games, last set by Bolton Wanderers in 2001.
    • They have scored a league-high five goals from a set-piece.( This doesn't seem right to me, I would say only first 2 goals against Fulham were typical set piece goals)
    • Patrick Bamford has scored three goals in three Premier League appearances this season, after scoring one in 27 matches for Crystal Palace, Norwich City, Burnley and Middlesbrough.
    • Kalvin Phillips has created nine goalscoring opportunities in the Premier League this season, the most of any Leeds player.

man city are like we were for the last few seasons, dominate games and possession... have days when they don't take their chances. Leicester had 7 shots, 7 on target, 5 goals. Admittedly 3 pens, but not a bad return! City are missing fire power upfront - but i fear a backlash.

IMO we unluckily lost to the best team in the Premier and I think we are about to play the second best team in the Premier. But they aren't at the races yet and some of the pundits thought that some of the players didn't look interested in their last game. So I really feel we've nothing to lose. The master versus the pupil.<ok>

2-2 this for me and both ours scored by Rodrigo and I also predict that Poveda comes on and does some serious damage because he was moved on as being not as good as Foden. Bielsa should unleash his anger.....

fly on the wall moment will be in the managers office after the match with Pep. Have some of that you bald fker <laugh>

We can take them and would have beaten victimpool if our two new guys had not given away stupid fouls.

When we played Liverpool I was hoping that we wouldn't lose by more than 3, if I'm honest, but having watched the match I think we deserved a draw. Against Man City I'm hoping we can go one better and deserve a narrow win. I'm hoping there is somebody there to put the decisive goal in the net when the opportunity arrises.

Morning all.Our biggest plus could be that their players underestimate Leeds.

Its a measure of how far we’ve come in 18 months. Back then we’d have expected a six goal drubbing if we’d drawn city in a cup, even against their reserves. Today we are talking about and almost expecting a result. Whether it happens or not it’s stunning progress in a short time. Take a bow Marcello and also radz and Orta for learning from previous mistakes. A measure of any good businessman is to learn from his mistakes

6 points from the first 2 games as taken the pressure off this one a little.
My only concern is Sterling's pace, I wonder if we'll see Dallas follow him everywhere
