I agree with your point, don't get me wrong. The sad truth is that we've been a yoyo club for so long with no real sense of direction, even including the 10 years in the Prem. The reality is that this development of a plan and a rebuild should have commenced 2 years ago but it didn't and we're now paying the price. We need a coordinated strategy from the U/18's through to the 1st team in that they all play the same style, tactics and formations so that when one of the youngun's gets a call up it's not foreign to them. If such a strategy was implemented and the fans informed honestly what was happening i think most would be on board.
I can't disagree mate. If people are given a clear plan and strategy, backed up with action, they'll get on board. The current SAFC is a mirror image of the government ... ... I'm expecting Donald to be on Spitting Image at this rate.
Well, for me its obvious that Barnes source was Donald. The same donald who earleier had said the y hoped to complete the sale by the end of May this year. Methven on the other hand when asked stated the sale would be dom by the end of June/ mid July, i seem to recall. Barnes at the end of July stated he had been told by the end of August. Well August came and went and then as an up date mid September stated by the end of the month. That is today but we all know its not going to happen today is it...
No, you're not wrong, the restauranteur from Sunderland gave him the idea and is not part of the backing
NB on Twitter yesterday @Houghton1956 #SAFC @Tweed_Barnesy nick apologies for intruding on your day but is the takeover still on track to be completed by the end of this month? @Tweed_Barnesy I doubt very much in the current climate though I believe it is still going to happen. I’m sure when he ‘broke’ the news we were still in a pandemic and it doesn’t seem to have hindered Carlton take over
So true. And the reason Brentford, and at least one other club whose name I've forgot, now refuse to have any player on their books under 18, at which age they can give players proper contracts and resist the rape and pillage by those clubs who aren't content with their own vast crop of young players, but who want every other promising player too. More clubs will go this way, it is inevitable. It's a time bomb sitting under youth development in England.
To be fair the delay is quiet clearly after the announcement no fans are allowed in the stadium till at least March. I dont think anyone was expecting that and further talks around it will certainly be needed
This Govt has ensured by the end of October there will be a dirge choice of hospitality options available to people. I fully expect to be made redundant by November
Agreed. We've gone from fans expected back in October, with an indemnity in case it didn't happen, to a situation where we know there's no fans for the foreseeable, maybe up until March. On top of that there's cases rising, local lockdowns, maybe even another full lockdown if they can't get it under control and the very real possibility of a lot of clubs going bust without a bailout. If I was a buyer I'd be sitting tight for now, especially if I was in the driving seat due to a loan, there's no need to rush it. I see the national league is expecting to get a bail out shortly. Once something is confirmed for our league that means clubs will definitely finish the season, I would expect (if there's anything in all the takeover talk) for it to then go through swiftly because, that aside, there can't be much left to discuss
Good post mate. This plan needed to happen when Short took over....he had the resources and could be patient.. he failed miserably. It was never going to happen 2 years ago because Donald doesn't have the resources and therefore could not be patient.
The system is flawed as we know to our cost , in recent years we have lost so many young talented youngsters to the big clubs and paid peanuts for development costs . Their should be a realistic way of us receiving additional money from any subsequent transfer of the player ie Sam Greenwood who left us moved to Arsenal and recently moved to Leeds for a reported £3m fee , as a side issue he scored a hat trick against our U23 team on Monday . At the moment the big 6 are hovering up all of the young talent from home and abroad at little cost and the development clubs as said are receiving peanuts which is not right , the PL and EFL have to develop a fairer way of compensating clubs that are being robbed of their talented players .
I can't remember who said it on a podcast a while back (maybe Jeff Brown...?) but he was told there was no plan put in place for the long term for Sunderland and the whole season was built to go up in their first season
