Thats how long we have until the next installment then we will have that vital question to debate, who takes Bendy's place, Ji or Wickham? Listening to Brucie its certain that for him Sess is one of our main strikers and somehow I dont see him going 4-4-2 against Arsenal away when we dont against WBA at home. Bardo will be back and I think he will be confident of getting his place back and in midfield, well who knows, we may go a midfield 4 of, Gardner..Catts..Colback..Meyler. Bit of fun there, until I typed it and realised it would not surprise me. Bruce and his future I have stopped even thinking about, Quinn and Short will decide and because I'm an old softy I still want him to prove everyone wrong. My biggest joy is that without transfers, team selection and Bruce to talk about, fat chance there I think, Dorset, BB and Commo can take their annual vacation and enjoy being fans safe in the knowledge that everyone will wish them well, they not really going away just hopefull be getting a quieter time. I myself look foward to spending some happy afternoons putting the world to rights with a pint and bag of crisps in the Fulwell End, may even do a few of those hilarious face in the hole things I know you all love so much and maybe the odd youtube clip. Guess I'm drinking alone then.
Hope i'm wrong here, but i can see Bruce going with one striker at the Emirates.... Guess who? (clue....he's not a striker, and never will be, he's about 4 foot nowt, and should be on the wing).
Well I had one of my questions answered yesterday by the man of the match (on either side) Bentdner he had a cracking game and is streets ahead of Flo. However although Sess had a good game, he really should have done better with his shots on target, he looked his best when he got the ball on the wing and ran at their defence, so I still consider him a good winger. Now what about those first two goals....talk about shooting yourself in the foot!!! Catts well SB realised the ref was itching to send him off anf when Jack came on he showed he should have been there from the start (it was good to see Meyler get a couple of minutes also). Elmo scored a good headed goal but he also showed he is not a right winger, Larsson on the right is best with Sess on the left and Ji with Bentdner was when we looked as if players were doing what they did best, i.e. playing in their best positions and knowing what they were doing. Unfortunately it looks as if we are going to be flirting with the lower parts of the league all season, West Brom were a poor side and at times we hardly looked their equal, although we were the better in the second half when Sess and Gardner did not convert some good chances.
Yes about Bendtner but he so needs help. Sess a winger, all but one agree but unfortunatly that one picks the team. Larsson a right winger, see above. I know you missed the Stoke game but Vaughan was first class that day and needs to be in, yes I know about Norwich but Vaughan was one of 11 that evening. Catts and Gardner just dont work for me and I am a big Colback fan. I remember, when the second goal hit the net, theirs not ours, we looked at each other and I remember the look of utter disbelief on your face, no words needed.
Just woke up but a bit of a radical idea for Arsenal (I dont like it but not sure what choice we have, if he doesnt want to start with Ji/Whickam) Play Elmo up front with Sess just behind (as Sess will play there anyway, doesnt matter what we say) He got a goal yesterday, he has pace and can beat a man when he feels like it, wins 90% of headers (they dont exactly go where he wants them to though) so hopefully he can get plenty of knock downs for sess and other midfielders to come running onto. Obviously I would pick Ji/Wickham before him up front every day of the week, but Bruce might not want to start either against Arsenal, and its better than having Sess as the lone forward imho.
I'm sure he has played Elmo there before, can see your theory Steve it would fill me with dread. I'm hoping Wickham is fit and starts.
Just though Steve, if we play Elmo up fron, move Larsson to RW and use Ji on the LW we could have, A left winger at full back A striker at left wing A left and right winger up front Looking at it like that and knowing Brucies style, it could happen mate
4 - 5 - 0 anyone? Try and hold on for a draw. (whoops still got a little alcohol in the bloodstream) 5 - 5 - 0
The funny thing is though, Whickam can play on the left wing, its where he scored most of his goals from for Ipswich, I am not sure if Ji has ever played there, but yet he plays Ji on the left and Wickham up front when he brings both on, and takes off our best crosser (Ok he had a broken toe seemingly so hindsight is a wonderful thing) Away to Arsenal though, we are not expected to get anything, if Elmo is on the right wing you know mig will kick it out to him 99% of the time, most of the time his kicks going out of play, or elmo getting a head on it but going stright to their defence, If elmo is up front, migs long balls wont go out of play, he should still win most headers, and hopefully as he is in the middle, they will go to a Sunderland player. tbh 0-0 will do me, so i dont think it matters who we have up front, but i want us to have a go at them, as i think they are vulnerable at the back, and we may well sneak something.
