He's still not comfortable on the ball and backs off his man too much off the ball. . . Which when you read that plain and simple doesn't make the best start for a Premiership footballer! I can't help but like the lad for some reason though

 

I like him too. Gives 100% and is always gunna be a good squad player. Do think that if we bring left back in and play Santon right back then his days could well be numbered

Were you watching a different game? Clearing header? The Simpson hate is getting silly, yes he's under the microscope but Raylor had an absolute ****ter in comparison.

 

To be fair there are some Sunderland fans like sid, cyrpus and BB who seem canny then there are those who seem to be complete and utter pricks

 

I don't think any of our players were awful today tbh. Gunna put my head on the line and say Colo didn't have a good game by his standards but nothing awful. We deserved the 3 points today imo with our determined, battling performance. Everyone chipped in

 

No I definitely wasnt, I concede that he was decent going forward in the first half and didnt do much wrong defensively due to the fact they hardly threatened but second half he was awful and I'm sick of seeing him being miles out of position all of the time, sick of seeing him invite players to go past him or round him and allowing them to cross or shoot without getting tight or even showing them onto their weak foot, he did all of that today but its not all about today IMO hes been bad since the championship and I've said the same since then.

We have Santon sitting on the bench who can play either side and I'd love to see him replace Simpson because he needs a firm kick up the arse.

Santon's not fit, just had his knee drained, whether be was on the bench or not. As for Simpson, yes he backs off but rather he did that than diving on if he doesn't think he can make the tackle.
Simpson makes some good challenges like the corner today and has also made two goal line clearances this season.

 

Simpson wasn't great today but did ok I thought. I thought Obertan was a LOT worse than him though, Obertan seems so hit and miss this season. Don't mind him but seems strange to keep him in the starting line up when we have Marveaux/Ben Arfa etc on the bench!

 

I can't stand him, his post match interview summed him up for me. He was sarcastic and beligerent to the guy interviewing him, he said the problems about Carroll were something that only existed in the media, that no matter how much the price tag was on a player, it would not increase expectations of them. He was pretty nasty really.

Martin Atkinson was the **** who didn't even give a free kick last year when De Jong mutilated Ben Arfa (as well as a couple of other shocking decisions in the same game, all going in favour of the "big team"). He should be sacked, he's ****ing useless.
