Handball has always been subjective. In the view of the ref it has always had to have been: 1 Intentional and/or 2 Gain an advantage from VAR has tried to make it objective by making it measurable. It never has been, and never should be.
Is that why you're trying to desperately convince yourself your WUM attempt didn't backfire? Your life must be so fulfilling if you can't even manage to be a bottom-feeding internet troll without embarrassing yourself
That's a good thought. Maybe in the case of both pens and handball, the best thing is to lay out a couple of principals and leave it to the officials to apply their judg...... ...then again...
VAR should be used to confirm the ball has hit an arm, that's all. The ref should then watch it, and then ask himself two questions, was it intentional? If yes, then penalty. If no, did the player gain an advantage? If yes penalty, if no, no penalty. Simple.
A sane sport wouldn't have a 'penalty area' where an innocuous transgression results in a 90% chance of a goal being awarded. It's just asking for simulation. Penalties should be awarded for denial of goal scoring opportunities wherever they occur. Otherwise it should be a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.
Yeah thats a horrific call and tragic they got a free kick for that. (Havent seen the handball vid yet) On another note is it a bad time to mention castagne got another assist today
Only a complete idiot would think that was a foul by our player ...what's that, somebody on the PL board is tagging me in a post?
Not being clinical enough cost us again...so wasteful so often...then we wouldn’t have to worry about the bullshit that followed
That's a different issue. Their goalkeeper player brilliantly which is part of the game, the score should have been 1 - 0 and that's a win and good enough.
you don’t think we should put away more of our clear cut chances? There’s always a goalie to beat it is a different issue but it’s an issue I find concerning and one we carry with us...I don’t think needs to be said about the Var decision
I think you need to take into account that the goalie played a blinder. Yes that's why we have goalkeepers.
The positive that comes out of this nonsense is Mourinho has a cause and feels Spurs are treated unfairly, if he translates that into motivation for himself and the players we will become a better team.
I can’t remember saying we should convert all our chances. The word clinical exists in football, especially when discussing strikers. When we are wasteful let’s just say their keeper had a blinder then
The bigger issue is our Jekyll & Hyde performances, where one half we grab the game by the scruff of the neck while the other we have as much control of the game as Laurence Fox can control not sounding like a whiny, entitled bellend Against Southampton we reaped the benefits because we controlled the second half so controlled the business end of the match, but today was the opposite which allowed them to be in a position to win a free kick after rugby tackling one of our players in stoppage time
The obvious question about the current rule on penalties is that, at some point this season, the batshittery will percolate out and something approaching common sense will take over The obvious response is...when? Ten weeks in? Fifteen? Twenty? If we assume there's going to be a minimum of one absurd penalty call per round of fixtures, by week ten there's definitely going to be a handful of teams with legitimate complaint about having less points than they should because the referees were trying to make the rules make sense
