Nah, he was jumping to try and head the cross, you can’t jump without using your arms for leverage, it went over his head and he’s therefore got his back to the ball, Carroll just heads the ball at his arm. You can’t give a penalty for that mate, sorry.
That's the rule though whether I agree or not.. There's been several given, so you can't not award it just because it's Newcastle.. The rule is silly, but it's too late to stop giving them
If the ball hits the hand (hand to elbow) it's now handball irrespective of any intent ... but if a player actively controls the ball from elbow to shoulder it's not, under the "T-shirt" rule ... hence Chris Wood scoring Burnley's opener against us last Sunday ... seems absolutely ****ing daft, but that's how it currently stands ...
