Not sure I like Højbjerg and Winks together, they both want to play in the same area and it pushes Højbjerg into doing things that aren’t so good for the team, like we saw in the first half against Southampton. Would rather see Højbjerg alongside someone more dynamic like Sissoko.
Both too basic in their game, it should be one or the other. Early days and he’s obviously getting used to a different way of playing but I’ve not been overly impressed by Hojbjerg so far
Yeah I agree, has to be one or the other. I think PEH is still adapting, it looks a lot better for him when he sits in, mops up and presses more situationally. He’d have pressed a lot more frequently and higher at Southampton so it’s probably just a period of adaptation.
You hope that Jose is winging it thru the fixture melee with that pairing, and tis not a long-term proposition (in which case : < Jose out > ) .
The advantage is they both make themselves available for an out ball from the back so we can start moves, but it's easily countered because if the opponents double up on Lo Celso or press Doherty that puts more pressure on them to try and make things happen themselves, which is a large part of why we lost to Everton because Dele wasn't available for the ball so they became very predictable in their passing
Really is criminal that useless sack makes the XI so often. I’ll re-send the anthrax with recorded delivery next time.
Never know what Newcastle (or Spurs for that matter) are going to turn up, hoping for quite an open game and maybe a few goals COYS
Dele being saved for the Chelsea and Europa League matches...needs to impress or risks very little football til January window. Been in really poor form for over 18 months bar the first few matches under Jose.
Mourhino's just said on his pre-match he'd rather have Lamela on the bench than Dele. To be classed as ****ter than Lamela, no way Dele's coming back
Two starts next week, then in the absence of an injury plague potentially (at best) 7 non-PL starts up to mid december (all of which are autumn/winter midweek games - 3 in the far reaches of Europe) . Motivation indeed (for most players) .
