Need to get this done - United need a centre half and with Inter liking Smalling as a potential replacement worried that a deal involving both wouldn't be that hard to strike.

Skriniar was an unused sub as Inter scored two goals in the last five minutes to beat Fiorentina 4-3.

    And. And (etc etc) .

I consider truly great managers to be those who put pragma over dogma.
In terms of formations, to be able to choose/play one for particular opponents
where your normal play may not suffice (and no that does not include busparquet) .

Which was what I said in not so many words, a good manager has a plan for all the teams they play and if all else fails kick it at the opposition 's arms

I expect we'll be linked with a few Paralympic footballers this coming week, as they don't have those pesky arms which flummox our easily-confused match officials

Failing that, there's only one choice...

Nah, we'd get phantom limb penalties. It might've hit his arm if he had one.

Or the player still feels neural stimulation that they
perceive as the missing part of the arm still being there.

If we really do pull the Skriniar deal off plus a striker, then what a window this will have been for the club. Arguably best ever in the Premier League when factoring in quality of some and the pivotal areas we’ve brought them in.

Can’t be arsed to search but pretty sure I said ideally we needed to make about 7-8 signings this summer due to the state of our team/ squad despite it being an unrealistic figure but getting him and a striker means we’ll have made 7 on the dot and most of those will (hopefully) improve the first XI going forward.

Skriniar* > All of our CBs
    Doherty > Aurier
    Reguilon > Davies and Rose
    Hojbjerg > Winks and Sissoko
    Bale > Lucas and Lamela
With Hart and new striker adding competition.

    Noooiiice!

I approve, if by "late" they mean 'after the transfer window closes' .

Recalling 2013, I would have been very wary of such numbers.
That three of them are PL proven is a big help.

Honestly I still think we need a more dedicated DM, because while Hojbjerg has certainly been a very tidy player so far, I do think our back line would be far better protected with a Kante-tyle player sitting in front of them as our system still requires Winks and Hojbjerg to multitask

I never made a secret that Hojbjerg wouldn’t have been my first choice signing but in his second half against Southampton and yesterday against Newcastle I felt he grew into the player we’ve been needing with regards to mopping up play, he’s not a destroyer like Wanyama but I’d say adequate enough to play the DM role if he keeps it up. He’s also shown he’s capable of hitting a few decent long balls forward which is an added bonus, I think alongside Lo Celso and Ndombele it could prove a very good trio of players. Though I think we need players who can directly compete with them, neither Sissoko or Winks can do what those three can in their respective styles and so proper competition for those places is what I think should be next on our agenda in the winter/ next summer windows. Skipp coming back next season after hopefully a successful loan will help towards one of them.

Deportes are reporting that Valencia are looking to loan in Juan Foyth, although we're asking for a loan fee and a sizable fee if they want to make it permanent

The latter part is actually a pretty smart move: in theory club finances will be balancing out by next summer...and since Valencia are a complete dumpster fire at the moment if they can't afford to make the loan permanent that means we can either bring him back into our team with a season of first team football under his belt or look for someone willing to meet whatever that price is
