some of their fans could tell us how much of the multi-million pound debt incurred up to 2009 was paid off by Herr Leibherr after he bought the club. How many of the dozens of small creditors ever got their money back and whether the company that has most of my pension money (Norwich Union/Aviva) got much of the reputed £24m that they were owed for the building of the St Mary's Stadium.

From the sidelines, amidst all the gloating, it seems to me that it is the usual story of a club overreaching itself with a new Stadium, going into administration, the administrator writing off much of the debts to make the club a better prospect for purchase and then a rich sugar-daddy coming in to get the club cheap. Of course then the investment can come in, the club can buy better players, the team can shoot up the league, the fans can crow..........and the creditors are forgotten.

Just like that blue lot down the road from the Saints.

Oh and by the way, has everyone forgotten how it was the "parent" club that was cynically put in administration to avoid the 10 point penalty.

Perhaps we should have called the Russo's bluff and gone into administration ourselves. We could have had a spanking new stand, new team and been top of the league just over two years after being so penniless we couldn't pay our staff. Or perhaps we're just that little bit more ethical a club?

Ah, well enjoy your moments in the sun, Saints fans. What goes around will come around. And even if you manage to go up, we'll see again in the Championship in 2013.

Sounds like a very bitter loser, too many incorrect facts to go into now, but no doubt there will be a few posts to put you right. If you are an example of Watford it would be best if we didn't cross paths again, but I think you are an exception rather than the rule.

Unlike Portsmouth, there was no unpaid tax bill and no small creditors had to take only 10 or 20 p in the pound. I'm sure that if there were any unhappy people we would have heard of it by now.

There were different people that have been running the club during the times you have mentioned. As far as the Liebherr/Cortese era goes, we got bought fair, we have a chairman that currently will not allow us to get into huge debt, we have a very talented and honest manager and an excellent hard working squad. We are on our way up and we are being run properly this time. There is no need for you to bring up past experiences.

Bitter, bitter loser who really doesn't know half the facts.

My only point here to other saints fans is that I know loads and loads of hornets and this is not a representative attitude of their fans.

4-0 and thanks for the three points!

From the bottom of our hearts, we apologise for being bought by a rich person with ambition.

I mean, really, howe dare we have ambitions to take Saints back to where they belong?

You should perhaps be asking the same stuff to the blue few down the road. Our administration came about by being relegated from the PL and in turn losing tonnes of income which we were relying on to pay off the stadium debt. Hardly anything to go crying to the moral gods about, is it? Don't preach to us about ethics, our club didn't do anywhere near as much damage to local businesses or charities as Portsmouth did in their administration process.

We were lucky enough to be bought by a wealthy man from a family with great ethical and well-run ideals, its not our fault he was so attracted to us and our relatively rich history and solid fanbase.

Sounds like sour grapes on so many levels, your post.

If you would kindly f*ck off I would much appreciate it, almost as much as I appreciated how ****e your team were today.

TBF That was sometime ago...and Saints have re-built by bringing through young players or buying well from the lower leagues.

We shouldn't criticise too much...but for Lord Ashcroft we would have suffered administration as well.

From what I have heard the Russos and Simpson hardly paid fair with creditors.

to my knowledge, i think the liebherrs paid off all debt when the club was bought. if you had won today i doubt we would have seen such a post, so probably best to keep the bitterness to yourself

Please don't take any notice of this guy Vic-rijrode, he is only jealous of the position that Saints are in and is in no way representative of the vast bulk of Horns fans.

Saints were indeed very much better than us today, albeit with the help of a dubious penalty (which we would have taken if awarded to us).

As for Southampton's new ground St Mary's, the financial clout behind the club and the obvious upward progression, we can only shrug our shoulders and wish for a tenth of what you have had invested so far.

And I wish them all the best for the rest of the season (except at the Vic), rather they went up than most of the so-called "big clubs" in this League.

Its pretty obviously not a generally held Watford opinion, which isn't surprising. Most clubs go through ****ty times. The measure of the club is how they come out the other end. Both Watford and Saints have come out of their tough financial time with their integrity intact.

Not just like us, at least they got a nice new stadium to show for their spending!

Our previous owners stated that they will pay all the charities that we owe and creditors under a certain amount (about £4k I think) which is something at least.

We do recognise that we are the luckiest team in the world when you consider the dubious owners that are out there. However, we do not consider that we should be ashamed of this.

Southampton had just two creditors Norwich Union for the mortgage on the new stadium and Barclays Bank. Money was not owed in arrears to Norwich Union but because we were a PLC we could not continue trading once the bank refused to extend our loan facilty beyond the £5 million and we therefore had to go into administration. So a debt of £5 million did for us. Put that amount alongside the amount other clubs have gone into administration with as a debt and it is chicken feed.

Absolutely no money was owed to HMRC or local businesses.

Marcus Leibherr bought the club and cleared all of it's debts. Unlike other clubs that had gone into administration we did not need a CVA for a percentage of the debt as it had all been cleared in full. SFC has not harmed your pension or your savings although today we may have hurt your pride. You'll get over it.

In future please make sure you know what you are talking about before you start to criticise another club.
