Am I right to be a bit worried, or is it just that Chester is playing so well he is suffering by comparison?

Hobbs generally looks for the long ball and even when he tries to play a 5 yard ball he gave it away and saw him turned easily a couple of times today.

I said to my old man today at the game, I would swap him in a heartbeat for Gerrard (Anthony)

I thought that he did very well defensively today.

On the ball... not so well. But he is a CB, i'm not too bothered about his passing.

Hobbs is doing a job for us but to sum things up, there are better realistic options available out there.

Chester in another league to Hobbs, but like Kempo says, I'm think we should all be buzzing with that result and we cannot be budged off 6th spot for 2 weeks !!!

    Is McShane a better option?

Well then ill tell you what i think. Jack hobbs is an important part of what is easily the best defence in this division, and better than half the premier !

Hobbs has improved as the season has gone on and is forming a good partnership with Chester. There's no doubting that Chester is the better of the two, but Hobbs is playing a big part in making us a tough nut to crack defensively and his contribution shouldn't be ignored.

He was good today, maybe a couple of misplaced passes and some 'exceptional wing play' ;), but who's perfect week in, week out for the full 90?

I fail to see how a fair discussion on his merits is disgraceful. Saying he is s****e would be but nobody is saying that. I saw some aspects to his game today that worried me that's all.

would never ever replace Hobbs for Gerrard---did you see Gerrards body language when they went behind---Hobbs has more pace than Gerrard---guess what would rather have Hobbs than Gerrard anyday nad he didnt want us also(remember Middlesbrough last season)

He is a very very good defender, that is his job, i don't care about his distribution, never have and never will.

    This.

    And this.

He's a defender and he's there to defend, Chester is good on the ball which is a bonus but not a requirement for that position. Hobbs made one absolutely brilliant challenge in front of the South stand when the Cardiff attacker looked offisde bu he got back and won the ball saving an almost certain goal.

    **** me! You boys must suffer from envy, I bet the grass is always greener in your neighbours gardens? I wouldn't swap Gerrard for Hobbs in a million years, here's why;

Gerrard is 29, slow, cannot pass and suffers from weight problems. I'll add to this list, he's also as thick as pig ****.

On the other hand Hobbs is 22(ish), quicker, can pass and is a fit kid. He's also got a little bit more between his ears. He WILL become a better player than Gerrard whom if you noticed got beat to the ball, out jumped and didn't score today.

I like Hobbs , I'm starting to think that Chester is the better player but I can't see how Hobbs can get slagged off week after week.
Not saying the OP is slagging him off but some on here love to have dig at him.

He made a bit of a howler early in the second half and there was a great big moan around the ground.
Ten seconds later Rosenior makes a bigger one and nothing .

I just think some have jumped on the anti Hobbs bandwagon and can't see the great work he does .
He does make mistakes but who doesn't ?
